I don’t know if I agree with Einstein that evil is the absence of God. That does sounds like a good definition of hell, however. I doubt that evil is the opposite of God or good, for that matter. Perhaps evil is best defined in the same way the Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart
defined pornography: “I know it when I see it.” or hopefully so. If not, then 'I know it when I do it,' would certainly apply to Christians and their renewed conscience.

Sin is lawlessness.
Lawlessness is evil.
The law is the 10 commandments.
When you lie, you sin.
When you steal, you sin.
When you look with lust at women or men, you sin (Jesus called "lust" the same as "adultery of the heart" in Matt 5)
When you hate someone, you commit murder in your heart (Jesus called anyone who hate a brother a murderer at heart Matt 5)
Because God has written in the hearts of EVERY man the difference between right and wrong, according to the 10 commandment, the 10 commandments is the legitimate standard by which evil can be gauged.

Intentionally choosing to make things worse instead of better. Somewhat subjective...what is better for one side might be worse for the other. If that is the case then you must decide which is the lesser of the evils without personal bias. (Good luck) Does the good for one out weigh the bad for the other, or visa versa.

Its all in the bible. The word is sin. Sin is not just what we do its why we do it. Sin is selfish, pride, arrogance. Romans 3:23 says that we all sin..... s in our nature. Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death. This is an eternal separation from God 'Hell'. Sadly because its in our nature nothing we do or say will stop us from sinning. Praise God he Sent Jesus to die on a cross to take our evil life away. The last part of Romans 6:23 says the free gift of God is eternal life. The cool thing is man can't save himself But Jesus did it for us. We need to repent (turn away from our sin) and turn to Jesus.

I think it's just whatever is bad for the most number of people at any given time. Of course this could change. What is evil today could be just fine next week etc.

The definition according to Hinduism is:
Anything done not in relation to God and for his ultimate satisfaction is evil.
How about that?
Care to know what it is that pleases God and how to do things without ulterior selfish motives?
