I am not trying to be wise, but people are so touchy about this subject. I have yet to hear a true & simple explanation to why the father, son and Holy Ghost are supposed to be one in the same. Frankly, it makes it hard for me to go to church and feel good about it. They do everything but label you a freak if you dare to speak against it. I honestly don't know the answer, and there are many parts of the bible that make me believe that they are not all one.

I think the fact that for about 1500 years anyone who denied Trinitarian doctrine was executed had as much to do with it as anything else.

Many has been misled by this belief about the Trinity. Most of them are using this verse as their basis:
1 JOHN 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
This verse in the bible was maliciously added according to scholars because even without this verse, still verses 6 & 8 would still agree.
Peter once said.
MATTHEW 16:16 - And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
He knows that Jesus Christ was the SON of the LIVING GOD, meaning there is a living God which apostle Paul also agreed:
1 TIMOTHY 3:15 - But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Apostle Paul certainly refers to the Father here because he specifically mentioned THE LIVING GOD.
Moreover, there is no single verse in the bible which would prove that the Holy Spirity is God.
Now how can we prove now that there is trinity in the bible?

I dont think this is the whole reason why people are silent regarding the church and beliefs. It is not wrong to question religion. I believe that every religion needs to be questioned and tested [not necessarily for empirical truth but more for logical soundness and accuracy to known historical facts].
When it comes to religions tho, there are no simple explanations. Organized religions are based on faith and hierarchy; belief that those higher up know more answers than those below. But the end result is that even the Pope doesnt have all the answers. I'm sure his faith in God is rock solid, but he doesnt have the answer to the universe. He may believe, his belief may lead him to rationalize he has the answer, but he wasnt there when it all started, so he cant know.
I'd suggest talking to people outside your church. Try a Unitarian, or another general-faith congregation. Someone there may be able to give you more concise information.

We are CALLED to question! If ppl are being "touchy" about your questioning..then you need to ask different ppl. Go to http://www.equip/org or http://www.icr.org or even http://wayofthemater.com they all have some very helpful information with regard to your question. The most simplest explanation that I can offer is that of a light bulb...3 different elements ONE light. (ie: the glass bulb, the filament, which creates the light, & the source of power or electricity. Each element distinctly different, yet they are all a part of ONE light bulb. The same thing can be applied to the universe, Time, Space & Matter...or even a simple Cube: lenght, height, breadth. So..when applied to God...you have God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) & God the Holy Spirit 3 distinct different persons ...yet ONE GOD.

I dont think anyone can explain, but Jesus himself. They are seperate individuals all made from God paper, I guess, is the simplest way to explain.
