Wow? Ummmm, I use to have a '2500hd silverado 4x4. Soon as the prices of gas went up and I was paying $30.00 every other day for gas. I decided to sell my baby and get a 4-banger. I still put in $30.00 dollars in gas but it last for a week. Its not our faults that the big 3 pushes the "big" vehicles on us. Look over in Japan they don't drive big suvs. We need to stop giving in and start buying a smaller cars. Bigger isn't always better

First off I have a 6-spd Trans Am. The MPG is pretty bad in the city, but actually isn't that bad on the highway. Somehow, it gets better mileage when I am going 90mph at a steady pace rather than going 55mph for the same distance.
I find it funny how the government especially the Bush Administration of being addicted to gas, WHILE there has been no legislation to actively look into alternative fuel sources.
Keep in mind the same person, Bush, who is telling America that they are addicted to oil had his family make their fortune on OIL!
There are many different inovations in alternative fuel sources, one of which is using WATER as a fuel, but has been shelfed by people in the oil business.
This idea of it being an addiction is not entirely true. Basically they are telling us not to drive our cars which is entirely impossible for many people. As for public transportation, it has gone up in price as well.
Finally, people believe that Hybrid cars are the best answer, and that they will save money. What they fail to comprehend is the fact that you spend an easy $5000 more when buying a Hybrid. It would easily take you 3 or 4 years for a regular driver to make that money back in saved gas.

Well for your information, I drive my car only 2 days a week and complete all my errands in those 2 days to see my mom in the nursing home, go to my doctor, get my groceries, check my mail or pay bills at the post office, get my pet food, rent movies or go to the pharmacy for my medicine...
I stay home the rest of the week, so I have changed my ways to only 2 days a week of driving...
I do NOT speed and my vehicle gets just over 20 mpgs...
And I drive a SUV, I just bought it this year, because my old car that I had for 14 years, broke down to the point it was not repairable and had oil leaks and gas fumes, so my new vehicle is more economical and fuel efficient with a clean gas burning engine...

I drive 5 miles under the speed limit, and the only place my husband goes to is work. The only place I go is to the grocery store. we no longer go out to see movies, family, or down to the beach which is only 45 minutes away. We've cut back alot, and yet gas at $3 a gallon is making it hard on us!

I disagree. I stay in a city that has a sprint over 60,000 people. Our public transportation equipment includes buses that don't cover the entire community and end working around 9 pm. considering the fact that gas expenditures have went up, i've got no longer observed a drop in site visitors. It nonetheless takes me between 10 and quarter-hour tocontinual to artwork. The artwork week has no longer replaced around right here. it truly is nonetheless Monday with the aid of Friday.

there was a study done at the fox news network, i'm sure it was done at the other media companies as well. i only read about the fox news study though. my point is....when clinton was president, at some point in his term, oil was around $12 or so a barrel, with gas going for around $1.12/gal. during the bush term, oil has gone as high as $70+ per barrel, and we've paid as high as probably close to $4/gal in some places.
my point being that if the price rose proportionately as the cost per barrel rose, we should be paying closer to $10/gal.
we need oil and gas like we need air to breathe. we can either depend on foreign sources, or pump more of our own.

I agree.. Are you a 90 lb woman driving a 6000 lb vehicle? do you insist on having a V-8 engine, even though you'll never tow or haul anything up a hill? Does your teen-ager Really NEED that humongous truck with over-sized tires to drive three blocks to school?
Thanks alot... You only have yourself to blame!
