It comes and goes. When it's there my stomach is hard from just below my breasts down. It's not a gassy feeling, and I'm not nauseated. I have been regular. It just hurts and is uncomfortable. Could it be a virus?

thanks for answer. I do have stress in my life, and I have have other medical problems. (3 kidney transplants, 2 heart attacks, 2 strokes & an implanted cardiac defribrillator) None of my meds have changed recently, so I don't think that's it. Stress could be it. I'll try to get out and walk w/my dogs tomorrow, maybe at the beach. Hopefully I'll feel better. Ty for answers, I see doc on Friday anyway if it's not better I'll let him know.

I gather you are not having nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea or you would have said so. It could be a virus but you would probably have other symptoms. It could be from stress. Look at your life. Does that fit? It could be Irritable Bowel Syndrome-which is terrible pains in your stomach often doubling you over. It comes and goes. Your abdomen is often bloated from gas. You can have diarrhea or constipation. The stools often become very small in diameter - not as thick. This too is usually caused from unendurable stress. It won't go away until you alleviate the stress-in other words dump it. I have had it three times and each time I left a job that was driving me crazy or graduated from college-it went away. If it continues, for 2-3 weeks, see a doctor. If you ever develop a temp. of 101, vomit bright red blood, not blood tinged secretions, or pass black tarry stools and haven't taken Pepto Bismol, or the pain is severe and on either the right or left side if you are a woman, and only on the right if you are a man and associated with nausea and vomiting, see a DR. immediately.

you should see a doctor, it could be something simple like not enough fiber in your diet or it could be something more serious.
