I'm really scared of bugs, every time I see one, no matter how tiny it is, I'll just freak out. Especially when they occasionally appear in the kitchen, I'll totally freak out and fear to go into the kitchen anymore. How do I over come this?

There is a treatment call immersion. It involves staring your fear head on. Find some non intimidating bug pictures and put them up in places around the house. Introduce yourself to holding a bug. The best one is a lady bug. You can actually buy some at the garden store. Put a few in a jar and try to get a different perspective on those first. This may sound pretty stupid, but gain some sympathy for bugs. Think of how hard they have it and they are just trying to survive too. Make a list of the most common bugs you see. Try to decrease your fear of one bug at a time. Be proud of yourself at the slightest decrease of fear. You may alway be affraid of some bugs like the really ugly ones like roaches. If you get any of those in your house, pour bleach down your drains. Good luck to you!

Facing a fear is the best way to get over it, however choose the right method. Find the most least offensive bug that you can (maybe a ladybug) and gradually expose yourself to it more and more (and you know i don't mean 'expose' in a lewd manner)....Once i saw a TV program where a lady hadn't come out of her house for 12 yrs due to fear of being outside --- a therapist worked with her on getting her to first go to the front door, then the porch and later the yard, eventually she made it to walking outside up to the street corner --- she's cured now.
Point is it's far better to plan and begin work on a strategy to get over this phobia.

I have a fear of HURTING bugs because they are all over the place and skittering around below my feet.

I have a phobia of HARMING bugs. I love them so much that I flip out if there's a bug crawling on my back. I try to get it off CAREFULLY so that I don't squish it against the back of a chair.

Mosquitos and ticks I will kill, though. Regretfully.

I love bugs because I have an appreciation for them. I read about them in several bug books and can identify many different types of bugs and their life cycles and behaviors. I once saw a daddy-long-legs and a praying mantis share the meat of a cricket's leg. It was really something else.

I love bugs. Sure, I've been bitten and stung by a couple and learned a lesson, but after reading about them I learned that it was my fault for not being so aware of their existence. They bite and sting to protect themselves from clumsy people and things like myself.

I recommend reading up on them. Bugs have lives, too. They aren't a bunch of nightmare monsters.

I'd like to know too... I've been fearing the coming of the June bugs. But I haven't seen one, yet, thank God. I just flipped out at my friend 'cause he flicked a giant ant towards me. I'm so mad right now! lol

A trip to France is suggested. Your fears must be prioritized. Believe me, France will supplant any existing fears you may have...#1] "Fear France" the rest will fall into place.

Come on, do you realize how BIG you are compared to them? They cannot hurt you. I scoop them up and throw them back outside, unless they are posionous spiders. They are living things too, and are just trying to go about their daily ritual... Whatever that is... You just sometimes get in their way. So--- stay out of their way, and you will have no problems. lol

Start eating them, and you will no longer fear them, as we don't fear what we eat.
