Or does God know you just want to look around during the prayer? Would God understand, or do you have to start with fresh prayer?

Utterly voids it.

Much like scratching the wrong area of a lottery game card.

As a preachers daughter I will tell you what I know. You can pray any time anywhere. It is called praying in the spirit. As long as you always ask god to forgive you for any sins you may of committed. Or if you have offended him in anyway to forgive you. Then start your prayer. If you get side track during your prayers and loose focus. Try just thanking him for things when you pray. Always give him praise. You can also get someone to pray with you or for you. have you asked Jesus to come into your heat? It is a small sinners prayer. Any local Christin church can guide you. Remember we reconcile with God through Jesus.

Praying with open eyes is the correct way to pray, cause u can concentrate well when ur eyes are open. u can make a habit of remembering God even while doing work, cause we need to work with open eyes and can't work with eyes closed. When u close ur eyes ur subconsciousness will work along with ur consciousness and thoughts are generated very fast which makes it harder to concentrate. when u open ur eyes only ur consciousness will be working and its easy to concentrate. No prayer is void just because u open or close ur eyes, ur feelings and love to God is important and other things really doesn't matter.
This way is better.
When you learn to tune your mind in meditation to the mind of God, then whatever the situation, you always have a source of help and strength to draw upon – an infinite reservoir of power and virtues that is only a thought away

No. Closing your eyes during prayer helps you to focus on who you are talking to. Open eyes can easily lead to distraction and you might lost some focus but as long as your intent is true God will hear all your prayers.

People probably close their eyes while praying is to concentrate better. But good prayer whether the eyes are closed or open comes from the heart.

Matthew chapter 6 is good place to begin in learning about prayer.

Our relationship with God requires communication. He loves to hear from us. Think of your best friend and how you talk with them. Do they have your undivided attention when you are talking or are you looking around at everything else? You can't pray without ceasing unless your eyes are open at times. But there is a time to pray when God has your undivided attention. Then possibly your eyes are closed.

haha no, of course it doesn't void out the prayer. most of the time i pray with my eyes open actually. God can "read your thoughts" so actually if you need to, you can just pray from your heart and as long as your asking for him in anyway he's listening.

Why would it void it. A prayer is a prayer, there's nothing said about eye contact during it. Your wish still exists and is spoken.

Prayer is litterally talking to God.

I talk to God all the time, eyes open or closed, walking or sitting, working or playing.

It's all about havin' a personal relationship with Him.

Pray continually Thessalonians 5:17
Devote yourselves to prayer being watchful and thankful Collossians 4:2
Look--------- Pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and request. Ask ...knock... seek... cry... sing ...dance... just commune with God with your eyes that he ables to open or not and you will know the answer.

Looking around does not void the prayer - it simply shows that you're curious about your surroundings. Somehow I have a feeling that you go to Catholic school. Am I right?
