Help!!!! The other day my computer crashed and I took it to work for the tech guys to sort out. They did a disc rescue and re-installed XP OS.have sorted most things out except for one which is annoying! Now when I boot up the computer it stops at the second DOS page with the message;- invalid system disc, insert correct disc - boot from CD press any key to continue' this means I cannot start the computer and walk away whilst it sorts itself out. I have asked the guys at work who fixed it for me but as i'm in China and the guys are chinese I cant get them to understand the problem. How can I change this back to how it was before??????

would like a bit more info - ie what computer model is your computer

firstly check that you haven't got any disks in you drives at all - if you have then the system is trying to read the disk first

then get into your bios or cmos (depending on your system depend what key you have to press when you start up)

with in this look for something that says boot or boot priority - changed the boot priority so the first one says HDD (hard disk drive)

if you can find this option this should sort the problem out

The people at Dell will be very patient with you if you call them up. My friend had a simular problem and so a call to dell resolved the problem, it took the best part of an hour on the phone. An engineer came out to visit and not only was the problem sorted but a higher megabyte was installed also and it was all done under extened warrenty. I don't know if there are Dell engineers out in China. Sorry!

It sounds like they did not use the original Windows OS system disk that came with your PC, e.g. Win XP. the security key is the problem
Go back ask them for the disk.

If that is not possible , you may have to format the partition again again and reinstall the operating system with the original disk that came with your PC, or ask he manufacturer of your PC to send you an oem version, or buy a new oem version you

I do not think using your default recovery disk will solve the problem, as the problem relates to the disk used by your Chinese friends.

This may work. Boot your PC and hold down f10, on some models(you didn't elaborate) this will do a factory reset. so you will lose all info you had on there and have to re-install all your software, bit extreme i know but sometimes it's the only way. Getting back , if f10 works you will see a screen asking you options , i assume you are PC enough literate to understand the process you need to do. One thing , if windows was not pre-installed then you gonna have to get a copy from somewher , if it was all will be rosy.

good luck

It sounds like the reinstall of the OS needs be be done again. You can't "go back" once you reinstall from the boot disk...you just have to move forward. Ask them to delete the partition and reinstall in from another boot disk.
