if tomato paste is exposed to sunlight, what happens to it

All the sunlight does is heat the tomato paste. If the tomato paste is left in the open can and is heated by the sunlight for several hours you run the chance of getting bochalism, commonly referred to as food poisoning. Oh yes, I have done this and the paste does get runny from the heating process of the sunlight. I recommend if you do not use all of the tomato paste in the can to empty the contents in a ziplock sandwich baggy and refrigerate or freeze for longer shelf life.

sunlight makes things hot. The tomato paste will get cooked :))
