my parents are christian, and I don't believe in my religion, i can't see how god created adam and eve, when we evolved from monkeys. My parents, people at church, and peers are all telling me what I should do. For now, i'm agnostic. (i think thats how you spell it. It means that I dont know what religion i believe in, i think...)

You should believe what you choose. Do some research. Don't let your parents, your friends, or anyone else tell you what to believe.

It's like this, no matter what "religion" you choose, if you don't have a relationship with God, then you aren't going to heaven anyway. God didn't send Jesus to start a bunch of religions, He wanted relationships. (Thats why God created us in the first place.) About that, it doesn't matter if you can see it or not. God is so much smarter than we are, that He can do whatever He wants - however He wants to do it. And whether we believe or not, won't change the fact that God is. And was. And always will be.
Now, I have to ask you a question. How do you know that we came from monkeys? Were you there? Who created the monkeys? Even if we "evolved" from the little critter in the mud... where did it come from? Where did the mud, and the planet come from? Where did the breath of life come from? God breathed it into the man He created. Thats where. (Science is proving things from the Bible more and more. Get on the web, and look them up.)
I know God exists because He lets me feel His presence, and once you've felt Him, you'll never have to wonder again.
Like I said, it doesn't matter what you choose, it won't change who God is, it will just change where you spend eternity. Jesus said that He was the only way into heaven. So a good place to start, would be talking to Him. Hope you hear His voice. And feel His presence.

P.S. Darwin disproved his own theory, so they say... Why do people still follow it? Anyway, all of you who took science should know this -- a theory is just a bunch of guesses until it is PROVEN.

They don't necessarily cancel each other out. You can believe in evolution, yet God still created everything initially. People can have evolved from monkeys as long as, at some point, God chose to put a human soul into them.. and that way created Adam and Eve. I'm not sure about other Christian denominations but I'm Catholic and this is a perfectly acceptable belief to us. Well, granted, you might find specific people who disagree.. but as far as official Church teaching goes, it's acceptable.

By the way, I don't actually have a position on a more literal creation vs. evolution. Evolution seems likely, given all the evidence. One day, I'll know either way.

Origins science is presuppositionary, that is, you begin from an assumption and work from there. Evolutionists assume that the universe is billions of years old and came to be through chance, and creationists assume that the universe is thousands of years old and that it came to be by God. However, what makes it so hard to believe that we came from monkeys is the fact that:

1) There is never an increase in genetic information; there is only a decrease or resorting. You can see an example of this when a winged beetle gets blown from the mainland by the wind and lands on an island. Once one of the beetles lose their wings, they become less likely to get blown off of the island and into a watery grave, thus, they tend to survive. The result? The wingless population takes over while the winged population tends to die off. This is natural selection at work, not evolution.
2) Many "missing link" fossils are either fraudalent or based on drawings made from incomplete fossils, such as a collection of teeth, some toe bones, and a leg bone for instance. Why, there was a tooth they found, claiming it to be some kind of ancient human ancestor. It was actually a pig's tooth.
3) Furthermore, who do you believe in? The words of fallible men who weren't even there to see the universe form, or God - as God puts it in Job 38:4, ""Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand." - who created the universe and is the eternal eyewitness to our history?

There is no "magic-bullet" evidence for evolution or creation; it is a matter of how you interpret the evidence. It is however, important to realize who holds the true authority here as our eyewitness, and it is the Lord.

Evolution is a theory...it is just an unprovable as God created Adam and Eve from dust. To say that "the Bible must be wrong since we evolved from monkeys", is assuming that evolution is fact.

Why would you assume one unprovable theory is superior than another? Keep reading the Bible and you'll see many prophesies foretold which come to fruition. This will show the validity of the Bible's message.

Also, why not listen to your parents? They are probably the people who love you the most in this world. Why not err on the side of the people who love you most...what do you have to lose?

Why can't you do both, Not all religions revolve around the Christian idea of Creatrionism

I am Wiccan and we accept evolution and we are religious. Find a faith that fits your ideals. Don't worry about your parents. They aren't you. Religion is a personal thing, not hereditary. My parents are Christian, too. Oh well, I didn't take the same path. THey might hate you for a while but like my parents did, they will get over it.

If you can "see" how we evolved from monkeys then it is most likely a comfort with a majority view in the culture and the effective use of animation and misleading museum displays. Life comes from life, love from love, intelligence from intelligence, creativity from the creative, etc, cause and effect. A Godless, lifeless universe cannot pass on any of these well experienced aspects of being human because it would BY DEFINITION not possess them. Evolution is conventient for humans because we like to live without accountability and rules, but gravity just won't let us fly around will it. Take anything you consider proof of evolution get to its original discovery or presentation and you will be disheartened by the deception and bias.

Being an agnostic means you aren't sure of the existence of God. I personally don't think you have to choose one or the other. I believe in a mixture of evolution and creation. To me they can co-exist and make sense. I believe that the Earth came into existence with the Big Bang, but i believe that was God's doing, and i believe the Bible was written by men. Most of it is either opinions, myth, symbolism and outright storytelling. I think that evolution happened with God's intervention.

Do what you think is right. But PLEASE understand this:

EVOLUTION IS NOT A BELIEF IT IS A THEORY. WHICH MEANS IT IS A GUESS AND NOT PROVEN.

Its just how we think we came to be. There is no conflict with religion really, if God created Adam and Eve evolution still works. WHy? becuase we've changed since them. Evolution is simply change over time nothing more or less.

Humans did not evolve from monkeys. Humans and monkeys have a common ancestor. But, the fact is, we are all related, not just humans and monkeys.

Babies are conclusive proof evolution is a fact.

The food and substances humans ingest (eat, drink or smell) all become part of a baby. A baby's existence is the direct result of rocks, plants, water and animals all evolving into a different life form.

There is no similar evidence to support creationism.

We choose our own beliefs and based on your comments, you have plenty of time to develop your own beliefs.

Religions are not about God, they are about rules... and how creation occured is only acedemic so don't worry about it at all. What matters is what you do and how you treat people. I bogged myself in similar debates with myself for years and it is endlessly frustrating until you focus on the spiritual aspects of life and stop trying to make sense of what people with religious knowledge but no spiritual understanding are telling you. The Bible lists the creation of things in the same pattern as evolutionists do, so proving one doesn't mean the other is wrong. Evolution might have happened, but God could have planned it that way... it's as pointless as arguing about why grass is green. Focus on empathy and kindness and you will find God everytime you talk to somone.
