I wrote this poem for my Dad for Fathers' Day. I don't know if he'll like it or not, since he's not the real poetic type. What do you think?

I'm writing these words
for Father's Day; for you.
It's a way of saying thanks
for everything you do.
Though you're not beside me
and youre not always there,
I know that you try.
I know that you care.
I want you to know
that I haven't forgot
about all the things you did for me,
everything you've taught.
I'll love you forever, Daddy.
From now until the end,
you're not just a parent,
but also my friend.
I'm not your baby anymore,
but I'm still your little girl.
Even if I could,
I wouldn't change that for the world.
Because I love you, Daddy,
from the bottom of my heart,
and nothing, nobody, could ever tear that love apart.
Have a happy Father's Dady, Dad.
You deserve it.

I am 40 with a 17 year old son and a nine year old son. My dad was out of my life from age 10-38. I have seen the difference having a dad in young childrens lives, espescially boys. My husband loves eveything from the boys, his sons, and he especially cherishes the "homemade "I " thought of you and wrote/colored this for you! We could just as easy (sometimes easier) grab something at the store, but something, anything, that you took from your mind, heart, and soul and wanted to share with him, is a gift he will love and never be able to forget.

No matter what kind of father he was while you were growing up or is now, sending those words from your heart will forever be in his mind and someday he may need to reach back or just remember reading them and they may make ALL the difference in his world! He may need to hear them right now!

My dad and I are starting a new Grown up relationship, that is going very well, we have both admited our faults and shortcomings, and just stick to the here and now, because no matter who did what to whom, you can't ever go back and change it. We just intend to move forward.

I don't know how much help my answer (opinion) was, but I felt very compelled to answer your question. This is actually the first time I have even seen this on Yahoo.

Send the poem! I think you have a beautiful heart! Send it in love and with prayer, then God will open the ears and eyes of you dad and he will see how beautiful you are, and then I am certain that blessed by God he will read and hear exactly what you wanted your poem to say.

God Bless you and your Daddy!
Happy Fathers Day

Apparently Yahoo has no age restrictions, which is fine, but to honor your father, should not be judged by others,,, Only accepted lovingly by him. Hopefully you wrote this to present to your father, not only us, and I was entranced by the last line, which is mysterious to us perhaps but might be very much a personal thing between the two of you, and I would very much enjoy you expanding on that line. I do have one suggestion however. If in fact you will offer it to your dad, drop all the 'he' references and insert "You"

Yes it is wonderful! One change - the sixth line - it should be you're instead of youre. Otherwise it is fabulous! (and you will never stop being his little girl, our daughter is almost 30 and her dad and I still feel that way and probably always will).

it's great! you're a true blue poet! go and show the world! and it doesn't sound like it was written by a 6 year old. whoever said that must be real mean.

The meter's a bit off in a few places, but I think it's cool anyway because it's got real feelings in it. :)

I nearly cried. If that was from my daughter I probably would cry.

And it saves money too.
