Yes it is allowed, and I am one. Saving the life of another is a very high honor in Islam. Life is sacred. I am a muslim woman and I signed the back of my Driver's License that states that I wish to donate my organs. God willing, I can save somebody in death with my heart, brain, or other items. I don't think my lungs would be too good, though, since I have chronic bronchitis and have had pneumonia.

If the donation is of an organ on which existence relies upon, which includes the middle or liver, it really is not permissible to donate it, in accordance to the consensus of the students, because it quite is killing a soul. yet no matter if that's an organ on which existence does no longer be counted, which includes a kidney or blood vessels, then there's a huge difference of opinion between present day scholars, and there are 2 perspectives in this remember: a million – That that's permissible to transplant human organs 2 – that it is not permissible to transplant human organs Fatwas declaring that that's permissible were issued by ability of distinctive conferences, seminars and committees, which includes: the international Islamic convention held in Malaysia; the overall public of the Islamic Fiqh Council, whose fatwa will be considered in the reply to question no. 2117; the Council of Senior scholars in the dominion of Saudi Arabia; and the Fatwa Committees in Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt and Algeria.

I'm not entirely sure, but when I did my speech on organ donation, all my research said that most religions support organ donation. It's like giving life back to someone, so I really wouldn't see why not.

Organ donation from living donors is allowed, the issue of brain death and cadaveric donation needs further study.

In Islam it's allowed, but not in judaism. Jews are required to be buried as they are, unmarked - no tattoos, no piercings, etc.

That begs the question: Why are there jewish amputees? Shouldn't they just leave the dead skin attached? Obviously not, for reasons of infections, disease and gangrene.

But a more important question is, if jews are not allowed to _donate_ organs, why are they allowed to _accept_ them? Isn't that hypocrisy? (And that's without discussing the issue of how such organs are acquired....)

And before any gainsayer attempts to say it, pointing out such hypocrisy is not anti-semitism.
