While this appears to be an easy question, it isn't. There are many variables that will change the answer.
First what class you are flying will be a factor. Business/First class normally has a higher limit.
Who you buy your ticket from. This is where it gets a bit confusing!
The general rule for flights going from or to the U.S. will allow two 50 lb. for economy and two 70 lb and one 40 lb for business/first class.
If you buy your ticket from a U.S. airline, but fly on a code share (different airline) the U.S. limit is used. However, if you buy your tickets separately, you will fall under the foreign limits (which as about half) depending on airline.
I'll give you an example from my trips:
I flew from U.S. to Amsterdam, then wanted to go to Paris. Because my Paris ticket was separate, my luggage limit was lowered.
The next ticket for the same trip, I bought a open jaw ticket. While I was still on the same plane as the first trip, I was under the higher U.S. limit.
Since you didn't say what country you are flying from, you need to call the airline that sold you the ticket to make sure. Better safe than sorry.
Have fun!

20Kg is the norm before they start charging you. Bear in mind that you'll buy stuff you want to carry so I'd take around 10 - 15 Kg, if you feel you can. Airport excess baggage charges are a killer. I had 15kg over when flying from Dusseldorf (Germany) to London and they charged me £400 (about $600 I think)
I've travelled quite a bit around the world and weight really is an issue, don't just think they'll let you off! (unless perhaps you're a playboy model or something, even then the girls will hate you). Be totally sure there isn't any traces of drugs in your bags, cause they'll hang you if a sniffer dog sits down next to you!!
I always travel with about a weeks worth of T shirts, jeans a couple nice shirts and two pairs of shoes. Anymore and it's a waste (underwear of course).

Call your airline. It depends on both the airline and the airport.
You will probably want to know the number of items and weight of checked in luggage and also the limits for carry-on. Most airlines will allow you to go over the limits but will charge you, in some cases these charges may be prohibitive.

eva and china airlines both let you take two peices of luggage plus your carry on stuff, the two pieces of luggage can be at a maximum 70 pounds each plus they must be within specific size guidelines. your best bet is to go to a phillipino store if you live in a large metropolitan area and buy what is known as a BALIKBAYAN box, which is simply a box made to the exact travelling dimensions the airlines demands. for specifics on box dimensions you can call the airline or check thier website.

2 checked bags - 50 lbs
1 carry-on,
1 handbag/briefcase/Camera
Typically on China Airlines you can carry quite a bit on. I know I have taken a bakpack (fairly big) a carry on and a camera. Sometimes it just depends on if it is your lucky day.

Check the kilos stated on your ticket as airlines have their specific weight allowance. If it says 30K then stick to that with an allowance of 7K for hand-carry.

It depends on the airline. Usually the maximum is 50 lbs. per luggage and two pieces of luggage and your carry on but you can pay extra for your excess luggage. You really need to contact your airline.
