no, definitely not. She is not her mother! Your daughter should be able to decide for herself what she wants to call her (as long as it is appropriate!).

no it's not alright for him to demand this from her or guilt her into calling her mom. she only has one mother and that is you!!! just like she only has one father. it should be her choice. i have a daughter from a previous marriage and never asked or pressured her to ever call her step dad anything other than his name she choose to call him daddy ****** and it was only after she talked to her father and found out how he felt about it and explained to him why she wanted to call her step dad this. my daughter was 11 years old at the time. if she is too young to express her feelings to him on her own maybe you should be with her,if possible, to talk to him. ex's can be cruel and this maybe one battle you can't let go. good luck!!!!

No it's not okay.
The child has only 1 mother but can have several fathers if you get my drift.
The new girlfriend should be addressed courteously but definitely not addressed as Mom.
The child must not be pressured into calling your girlfriend Mom.
Think up a nickname for her that the child and the new girlfriend are comfortable with.

It is not all right to demand that of your kids - asking them if they want to is okay, but it should be left to what the kids feel comfortable with doing. Perhaps the kids need to ask 'your ex' if he intends to have them call every new girlfriend 'mom'.... and if he thinks that any future boyfriends that you may have should be called 'dad'.

your daughter has to decide this on her own. a girlfriend isn't official yet and she shouldn't be concerned with what your daughter calls her. I don't call my step father dad, I don't think it would be right for me since my actual dad died when I was 9.

No that's not alright. You are her mother and nothing will ever change that. Hopefully your ex's g/f has more sense than he does about this. If not, she's as weird as the ex.
