My dog HATES to be brushed, but she's shedding like CRAZY and itching all over. I used to be a dog groomer's assistant, and we used undercoat remover brushes on bigger, woolier dogs, but never the small ones. Does anyone have experience with Poms? I don't want another shedding summer!!

I usually used a slicker brush on a Pomeranian. You part the hair down the centre and work at Small sections. If you do this regularly you will keep the "foxy dog" looking foxy. You can also purchase a stripping comb which looks like a serrated butter knife. I would recommend the slicker brush though for the fresh groomed look.

I'm not sure what to tell you as far as what kind of brush to use, I really think they're all the same. However, I can tell you to brush her when her fur is wet. When you brush a pomeranians fur when it's dry it hurts them (thats why they hate it). You see it's pulling up the undercoat when you do that. So try doing it after her bath next time and see if that helps :)

USE A METAL COMB THAT PULLS THE UNDERCOAT OUT. YOU COMB AND COMB UNTIL IT RUNS CLEANLY THROUGH THE HAIR WITHOUT PULLING OR TUGGING. THEN YOU KNOW THE UNDERCOAT IS COMBED OUT. PETEDGE.COM HAS TONS OF GREAT PET AND GROOMING SUPPLIES AT REASONABLE PRICES. I'VE BOUGHT ALL MY GROOMING PRODUCTS FROM THERE AND THE QUALITY IS JUST FINE.

I got a furminator and both of my girls love it. K-9 and feline.
The k-9 does not like to be groomed either but she will stand still for the furminator.
