How would I find my Scottish bloodline??

Question

While my father was doing a family tree for his side of the family, I discovered that we have a lot of Scottish blood! And I am very interested in researching my family line more but I dont know how to do this exactly!! I want to know more about my Scottish ancestors and how they lived!! I dont have a lot of spare time and cant always hop in the car and drive to the Archives building my dad goes to to research his stuff!!

Just research by time line. It is good background anyway.
A lot of Scots fled through Ireland in the 1800's
