My friend emailed me and asked me if I wanted to hang out at the mall with him on Wednesday and I said I'd see if I could. Was he asking me out on a date or does he truely just want to hang out?

It really depends on the situation. If you guys have been friends for a long time, and he wants to do a certain thing with you, then he probably considers it a date. When or if you go with him to the mall, depending on what you do it can be a date or just a hang-out-with-my-friend type thing. If he brings other guys/girls with him, then its definitely a hang-out-with-my-friend type thing. But if you go to the movies or eat lunch and just sit and talk, by yourself, then it's probably a date. There is no real for sure way to find out, until you go. So look for those things and then you'll have your answer.

He's just asking you to hang out for fun as friends. He might like you a little bit more than friends though, and wants to spend time with you.

you can tell because he emailed you. if he asked you in person it could be a 'hang out'. he's too shy to ask in person so he did it by email. he's asking you out on a date.

why dont you go and find out? All people are diferent, just because he is a guy does not mean that there is a definite answer to this question. Maybe he wants to hang out, maybe "hang" is code for "make." You'll never know untill you go.

that means he wants to get to know you better as a friend and mabie he wants to get serious 50/50 chance but there is no harm in getting to know eachother a little better right? so go to the mall and have fun!!

It could mean he wants to hangout or see if there is potential for a date...i'm sure it's harmless either way
