Service, love, self-discipline, etc, all help to overcome the illusion that one exists as a separate ego. We are all part of something bigger than any one of us. Philosophers and mystics tell us so, the trick is to experience this directly. Ask angels, saints, deceased relatives, God or gods for help in transcending the ego, as they have already achieved this to some degree or another. Transcending the ego takes place for only timeless moments at a time; the minute you say "Wow! I've transcended my ego!" you're right back in the ego!

The creator is experiencing itself through us. We are the creator experiencing individuality. If we did not have ego to deal with, to transcend from, the creator would be at the start again, totally whole with no way to experience itself, except through the Universe and the animals that don't question anything. A long time ago, a woman told me a story. She said that the creator was once just all alone, in a huge void. There were no mirrors, so the creator couldn't see itself. There was no contrast within itself because it was everything. So the creator basically exploded. And from within came the stars, the planets and the Universe. Although all these things were a part of the Creator, in some way, it was also separate and could be seen. And it was a delight, to watch parts of itself create galaxies and to watch planets form and grow. And after Eons of that ;) the creator decided it wanted to know itself as a instinctual being...and so there were animals. And then the creator decided it wanted to know itself even more, on an individual level, on a level that would question everything and that would evolve with thought and purpose and direction. And so we were created. We are God's mirror. Without ego in place, we wouldn't be that part of the creator, we would be the animals. There's nothing wrong with that but it is not what we are meant to be...it is not the part of the creator that we are. ;) The ego is not bad, it is misunderstood and out of place.

By realizing that ego is nothing. It was a wish to be a self separate from God, and even itself. It has no validity. Tell ego to get behind you, and feel the truth of you shine through the illusion of ego, into the reality of your Self.
Ego will try to say, "it's that easy?" Or "That's simplistic". It wants only its own world, with you kept in the dark. But God knows the truth of you, that you are forever beloved of Him. You remain as created.

Getting in touch with our "person-space" via our collective boundedness, IE, rationality, methodology, media, and purveyance. That is a start. Next we need to scrutinize the ways in which we reconnoiter our difficulties, ie, mediation via our sensibilities surrounding structure - process, being - Eco-culture, and drive- teleology. Our drive should have a one to one correspondence with truth factors. You can also see the 1:1 correspondence between the factors of causality and our boundedness... so that should help us put our "egos" in proper perspective to do the work that is so essential to sustaining our ecologies. De Bono has a lot to say about this (et.al.). There are also blogs that address this. Try this one: collectiveintellect.blogspot.com

Ego is like a shadow. It really does not exist. In order to make the shadow dissolve, we must first shine light on it. We must first find our inner fears, negativity (find the shadows) and then feel love towards it (shine light on the shadow).
We also need to be in control of our ego rather than ego being in control. We also need to not place importance on the ego's fears. They truly do not exist, and nor should we react to the ego's fears.

We can transcend ego by shifting our frame of reference point.
Instead of refering every viewpoint from the *I myself*,
to * the other*.

When you say this..are you referring to ego int Freudian terms? If so..then transcending it would be moot.

First you must recognize it then every time you see it in yourself say to yourself I do not want this in my life. This also works for anything else about yourself you wish to change. E
