i have dealt with this for 2 years now. actually had tonsils removed by docs so they can shut me up. i have been dealing with this tonight real bad too. its worse tonight because my roomate gave me the flu. email me at genler100@yahoo.com if you need to tlk. just keep busy on the computer and try nt to think about it. if u dnt take meds for this u should tlk to a dr. lorazapam worked good for me.i have been to the hospita like 300 times because it literally will feel like my throat is closing up. i cant go in a car for a long time because i will get scared that if i am not by a hospital that my throat will close. it scares the heck out of me.

Sorry about the stupid answers #1 and #3. Panic attacks affect everyone differently. Yours just happen to make you feel like you can't breathe, talk or even eat because your throat closes up. Tell your doctor. Maybe you need a different type of medication. Best wishes.

Don't panic! I'm not kidding, just relax, take it easy...nothing merits so much worrying does it?
I'm guessing that when you panic it accelerates your breathing, and since you're breathing so hard it makes your throat feel "closed". I'm not really sure, I'm not anything close to being a doctor.
The main thing here is you need to relax. Spend a day at home in your PJ's, take a nice bath or soak in a hot tub. Relax.

Panic attacks are usually discrete episodes. If you have this sensation in your throat for prolonged periods you may have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Anxiety manifests itself in not only psychological ways but in physical ones as well (such as the classic "lump in the throat" that you seem to be describing). Or it could be a Conversion Disorder, read up on that. I've had this feeling before and it's troubling esp. when you're trying to eat. I know it's scary but just keep reassuring yourself that you're ok and nothing is physically wrong.

It also effects my throat too . it is part of the fight or flight response. your body tightens up when it is in panic mode and the meds can agitate this by giving you a dry throat and sometimes even cotton mouth. try some yoga to help control your breathing and get a handle on this panic. it has helped me alot!!

Maybe it's reflux. I have the exact same problem. Not lying. Try asking yer doctor about nexium. It's to treat reflux disease. It might not be yer throat but rather reflux in some part of yer system

you might be having an allergic reaction to something. a lot of people are sensitive to things as simple as bread or milk. another idea is that you might need to have your meds changed to find a better combination for you. it could be a side effect of one of the meds or they might not be working well enough for you.
