Credit card debt. Casino cruising. My mom doesn't drive, so her friends take her to the casino every once in a while. Each time she would take money and lose it. Sometimes it was $20, other times it was $300. This has gone on since I was in first grade. Recently she got another credit card, put both our names on it and then without telling anyone she spent $900 at a casino. When I finaly dragged it out of her, she told me she was having fun. So now she has more credit card payments to pay and not enough money.
Is there something I can do?

She is an addicted gambler. She needs to first recognize that fact and then admit it. She needs to call gamblers anonymous and get counseling. Most casinos have signs all over the casino warning about losing too much money. G. A. probably has a group for members of the family like yourself. It's all free,
but she really has to want to quit! Most people
can't, because of the "action " (an obsession
that the next time they will win big). This will be the hardest thing for both her and yourself to handle in your lifetime! Watch carefully, because you may end up being just like her in the future. It's like trying to quit cigarettes, or trying to quit heroin. It won't be easy and it may never happen! Good luck!

She really needs help. She needs to see what has happened to some people that have been where she is going and what the cost was. She needs to know that she could lose her family and her friends. Be honest with her and tell her you don't like what 's going on and you don't agree with it. Also she needs lots of prayer. Find a church and take her there. She needs to be delivered from her gambling habits. God is the answer to this problem. He can change her life around. I can only suggest prayer, that's the key. Jesus is the answer.

Don't give her money. Don't drive her to the casino. Close the account that has your name on it. Put an alert with the credit bureaus to prevent the opening of any new accounts in your name. She isn't going to change until she wants to. There's no point in both of you going down in flames.

Compulsive gambling is an illness like alcoholism. She needs help. Make sure she pays off the credit card with your name on it before anything else. My prayers are with you.

First you need to call the credit card company and get your name off that card. She could ruin your credit.

Tell your mom that you care about her and that you think that it is a bad idea to be doing this. Tell her that it is not good for either one of you and that she needs it not just think about herself but think about you. One thing that you may want to do before you talkt o your mom about anything you may want to pray about it God will give you wisdom and will give you the right words to tell your mom

There isn't really anything you can do for your mother other than to talk to her, but you could remove yourself from the situation and make sure that your life doesn't follow suit.
