I'm downloading onto Movie Maker and the video is real choppy. I'm using a USB cable. Is there something that would work better?

perhaps a better camcorder, and also windows movie maker is one of the cheapest softwares for making movies, so it's not really dependable.. you usually can't blame USB cables, not much can go wrong with them. however, a lot of other things can go wrong like tape corruption and such. Assuming you used a Mini DV, did you touch the back of the tape at all? or maybe leave the tape in the camera for a long while? these are just some suggestions. Also, I personally use FireWire cables. Maybe your camera doesn't have a FireWire port, but i haven't had any trouble with using FireWire with Movie Maker. Maybe Movie Maker isn't fond of the USB connection? haha there are so many things that can go wrong.. i would suggest using process of elimination in order to pin point your problems. good luck :)

USB is too slow to process video. You could try USB 2.0 adapter if your computer is USB2.0 compliant. I have an ADS usb2 video adapter and it works great, to the point of being able to make dvd quality dvds.

Yes, get a video card which would have video editing included with it. http://www.newegg.com/
