Day care potties are usually lower to the ground for smaller children. This makes them look different to children. Sure it is meant to make it easier for them but, change can be scarry for any child.
Also, is another child teasing him/her at potty time? Is he/she just too busy playing or creating and doesn't want to waste time to go potty? Is your child shy? Some children just naturally cannot go potty in public. Heck...some adults can't!
Just remember, your child is comfortable at home. This means he/she feels loved and at ease. YOU are the security blanket in this child's life and you may have to use the potty at the day care to prove it's safe and nothing to fear.

question: Does he use a potty chair or a toilet and is the same at daycare??? Try a treat system. Use the potty all day at daycare and the child gets a special something at the end of the day. If my son takes a nap at daycare he gets animal crackers or apple slices on the ride home and then if he is good all week we go to the zoo or playground on the weekend. Also talk to your child about the other boys and girls going on the potty and the whole being a big kid talk. Talk to the daycare about some ways to work together to deal with this. Make sure they are being supportive to your child. .......and this too shall pass. good luck

Well if the daycare has those automatic potties that could be the problem cause my nefew is afraid of them. Maybe see if they will let you bring a small one for your child to use. Or maybe you can take your child in there a couple of times maybe they just need to get used to it and if mom/dad is there it might help especailly if it is a new daycare.

Plain and simple he is not comfortable to go at daycare.
my son would hold it all day even when he wore a diaper until I came to get him. Each child is different and needs to do things in there own time
I wouldn't stress too much it will happen
