doppa
Doppa is a Muslim version of the Jewish kippa. A square or round skullcap worn by Kazan Tatars, Uzbeks and Uyghurs, is called doppa, The doppa is derived from a Turkic, more pointy ancestral form as seen worn by Jalaleddin Mingburnu in some of his portraits. Doppa might have influenced the development of kippa when Jewish communities interacted with Muslim Turks in Eurasia.

It's called a muslim prayer cap. The actual name starts with a T, but it isn't turban. And as I can see so many are in to stereotypes, let me clarify something. Sikhs are required to wear those turbans, NOT muslims. Had you even the smallest amount of education or experience, you would have known this. And sikh boys must keep one very long ponytail wrapped up in it, so how do you like DEM apples??

For men, doppa. I believe they only wear that once they complete the hajj in Mecca.
For women, and this is not the equivalent of the doppa, the term is hijab. It's worn so that people look as her a human being. Yes, she's a human being even without it, but women use it to cover up their "ornaments" like pretty hair and pretty neck. It's one of the ways they keep their modesty.
