Not all Christians are hypocrits. Some Christians do behave well in church and act and do hateful things outside of church, some do evil within the church. Some Christians do not attend church but live a good Christian life in spite of non-attendance. According to the Old Testament, God said that all men are liars. It is up to good Christians to pray for the not-so-good ones. God can (and does) work miracles in people's lives. Be the best Christian you can be and make friends with good Christian people. God will handle the rest.

Some people that claim to be Christians or that people assume to be Christians are not really Christians at all. Only those that have received Jesus Christ as their Savior are true Christians. This is a personal life changing experience and it can not be obtained by family tradition, good works or anything else that can come from us. It is from God's grace, a free gift from God.
We (Christians) are not perfect, only forgiven for the sins we have commited. Not untill we are with our Lord will we be perfect. On this earth we can only grow everyday to be more like our Savior, but we will never be in this world for He was the ONLY perfect man.

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.
(1 John 3:2 NASB)

Gee, were you expecting perfection? Sorry to disappoint you, but that's not going to happen. No Christian is perfect.

Perhaps it is your own thoughts that make you think that. You see someone wearing their Sunday best, on their best behavior and you think they are hypocritical ... I see someone trying to show God their best. I guess it's all in how you look at it.

But you are right in that if a Christian is hateful 6 days a week, and a icon of goodliness the other day, that is wrong.

Those who act one way one place, be it church or any other place, and different in another, are hypocrits. but you'll find this anywhere. Not all of God's faithful are this way. If you know someone like this, you should confront them about it. If that doesn't work, get a witness. Then ,if that still doesn't work, confront them in front of the church. But do me a personal favor, don't condemn all believers because of a few backsliding, hypocrits. Give God a chance in your life and He'll make it a life worthwhile.

Hello,
Yes i am afraid that does happen, but people are people everywhere. Just because someone sits in a pew on Sunday does not necessarily make them a christian.
You CAN tell A christian, WHO IS REALLY PRACTICEING THE FAITH, and of course you can also tell when they are not.
I think the simplest way to explain is this:
There are people that want everyone to see them in church, they are in the front row, they are checking out what everyone is wearing, not checking out the POOR folk you understand....they are only pretending to be Christians.
they may not even know they are pretending, but they are, and Certainly God knows that they are also.

the best way to tell is by reading the Bible, finding out the answers for yourself, then you will have some knowledge to share with those that are still lost out there or in Church.
Maybe you can even be the one to plant the seed they need to hear. Jesus doesn't go after people who are already saved, He nurtures them, but He will leave the 99 to go after one lost sheep, and thank you God He did that for me.
I am not a Christian because I was so good, but because I needed Him to save me. I am not a Christian because I never did anything wrong, I am a Christian, because He needed to wash me clean with His blood.. I get down on my knees every day and Thank Him for finding me, His lost sheep.
Becky I.

I understand what you mean and I wondered the same. It has to do with just showing up at church but they don't apply what they study in their life. I have a son and when he was a teenager he would go to church every sunday, but it seemed like when he returned home he was always in a bad mood. I told him there was no use going to church if he wasn't going to apply what he studied about in his life. And alot of people go just for show. I work in retail and some of the hardest people we deal with are older and supposably more religious people. I"m always joking about how I'd like to know what church they go to so I can let their fellow church goers know how bad they behave outside of church.

You answered your own questions.Hypocrites are just what they are,not Christians, you can judge a tree by it's fruits, sadly that is what turns alot of people off,is some of the hypocrisy in all churches, but no one should use that excuse to not worship" Don't look to the right,to the left or behind, look to the Lord

You ask 'Why?' I think the answer is in what we choose to believe. Christian or not, we all seem to accept to some degree what others tell us or teach us. Especially when we are young we accept what others tell us and that tendency stays with us for the rest of our lives. The hypocrisy comes in when we have a conflict in our lives because we don't listen to our own hearts but only to our mind that tells us how we need to behave while our heart tells us otherwise. When we follow our heart, while our head tells us it is wrong what we do we create guilt. The guilt feeling we have is what others see as hypocrisy. The best way to live without guilt and hypocrisy is to 'Walk your Talk and to Talk your Walk'.

Not all are, but a lot are. I can't stand the people who say they know what God is saying, or who say basically, "I'm better than you, I'm perfect, I'm right, you're wrong. End of story." First off, if God is so "mysterious" why would he reveal all of his closest secrets to these average shmoes? And didn't they ever get the moral of that whole little known story about Lucifer and his sin; pride. It only led to Satan and what not according to them. Practice what you preach, that's all I ask of Christians.

How's this for screwy? My uncle Larry is a minister, and so is my grandmother... Larry is a slum lord, drug addict, and married a hooker that he knocked up. My grandmother married a dying guy so that her daughter (from another dude that she wasn't married to) could get adopted and recieve his VA benefits. It seems to me that people who scream about their faith the loudest and advertise it the most need it to look and feel better about themselves. I have met some true, genuine, fantastic Christians that do good things in the name of the Lord, but it's the population of wackos that get the most attention. Seems that way in most religions... you only notice the loud obnoxious people in the front, not the quiet people carrying out their faith in a pious manner in the back.
