Enjoy it! I LOVED my freshman year of high school, largely because it seemed like the smothering grade-centered cliques that loomed throughout the school in middle school suddenly dispersed. The other thing I would really recommend is getting involved. Sports teams become much like a second family, and having that kind of support can't be beat. Plus, since teams aren't restricted (at least where I went) by your year in school, you stand a good chance of making friends varying from other Freshmen right up through Seniors, and that's a good thing! If you aren't into sports get involved in another club (art, drama, environment, etc.). If you plan to go to college after you graduate and have some idea of what you'd like to do, take some classes geared towards that, but also take some just for you that you think you'd enjoy. I don't have many regrets, but I do wish I'd tried out for the school play! Last but certainly not least - try to be nice to EVERYONE (this includes "nerds" and "outcasts"), high school is hard enough without people talking behind your back and making each day miserable. If you're mature enough to be considerate and kind to others you won't regret it, and you'll probably find that there are a lot of fun and interesting people out there that you probably wouldn't have known otherwise.
Oh, and about "freshmen initiation", depending on where you go, it's usually a rarity. Just be yourself and be confident, and don't let others push you around just because you're temporarily on the bottom of the totem pole (and when you get to be a senior, remember what it felt like just coming into the high school!)
Best wishes for a wonderful high school career! It will go fast, so enjoy the journey! :)

My best advice to you is not to let your next 4 years of high school become the be all, end all of your life. You're young and I know how tough it is to think past the moment you're in but you will eventually leave high school (hopefully with an excellent education if you take your schooling seriously). You will begin to realize that much of what happens to you in high school really wasn't all that important as you may think it is while you're going through it. When I was in high school, I thought that everything that happened there was the way real life is. It isn't. The big shots in your school may end up losers in their adult life. The losers may end up the most successful. Just use this time in school to develop your character instead of worrying about what everyone thinks of you. Ten years from now you won't remember most of these people anyway.

It's not really hard...
Going into highschool is like going into Middle School ( Jr. High) just the people will seem a lot older than your used to. The school will probably be bigger too. Uperclassmen aren't as scary as people might say. They don't rele care bout picking on freshmen, they have better things to do than mess around with freshmen. The school might seem big at first but you'll get used to it. High School is pretty much just fun! So try to live your four years in High School to their fullest.
Just be sure to hang with the crowd you most belong in, if you don't, well, it's bad, you won't fit in.
try to get into some sports
Meet new people
Join clubs
Don't be wierd (most ppl don't like wierd ppl, sad but it's true)
Keep up your grades
Have fun!!!!!'
And on the first day of school, don't act like you don't know anything about being in HS (don't get lost or wander around, or look confused or excited). Just be normal.

I'm goning to be a freshmen next year too, and although Im not in high school and our schools might be totally diffrent one thing I know for sure is to continue being you. Dont go changing to someone that you dont want to be to get popular or change and end up hurting someones feelings cause you want to fit in. If you do get any other good advice plz share.

Its alot different than Jr. High. One thing you do NOT want to screw up your freshman year....its one of the most important years (other than your senior) year in Highschool. Other than that its not too bad. some of your friends may be going to the same school you are going to go to so you will have someone to hang out with.

don't be nervous. its not as bad as the stories you hear or things you see in the movies.
if you are worried about being bullied, if your school has good administrators that likely wont happen often. freshman friday is nothing to be worried about. in my school the seniors actually gave out lollipops to the freshman, although other seniors squirted waterguns.
if you are worried about peer pressure, just know that you have to be strong. it is not like in the movies where if you dont do drugs you wont have friends. usually, people will respect your decisions and if not, they are not your real friends. make sure to hang out with kids you are comfortable being around and never let anyone pressure you into anything.
good luck next year

I will say not to be nervous about it, it is all part of moving on and growing. It will be hard at the begining because of course is high school and there are other people older but don't let that get to you. Just be yourself and people will like you for who you are.

no matter what happens everyone makes mistakes. but the best thing you could do is be your self. yes it is a change but when you moved up to middle school didnt the all the other middle schoolers feel the same way as you did. there will be others at your school to help you and you have friends. plus all freshman feel the same

It all depends on the type of high school you're going to... Private or Public? Ghetto or Middle Class? All you have to do is stick to your friends from your previous school until you meet new people and start fitting in to the crowd.
