If you have had any credit during those ten years then your credit should be just fine. That is if you have paid on time. I was in that situation and after 10 years my credit score is in the top 78% of the country.

Your credit rating will be low, because of the bankruptcy and creditors will have a hard time giving you a loan. Take on one credit card with the lowest interest rate and faithfully pay on it each month to rebuild your credit, but don't overspend and don't receive any late fees. If you need to buy anything on time like car, furniture, appliances etc.,the interest rate might be high but it is a way to reestablish good credit. Good Luck

A bankruptcy removes all of the bad marks from your record, but remains itself. It tells prospective lenders that you got into trouble with money and had to ask for relief through the courts. It also tells the lenders that you're a fair lending risk because you can't legally acquit yourself of the debt you might incur again. So, though cautious, they will generally be favorable to giving you small loans to see how you perform. Just don't walk aorund with a load of guilt on your shoulder about the bankruptcy and lenders will have a much better opion of you, being more open tobegin trusting you with new loans.

If you pay your bills on time each month, your credit rating will rise over time..but it only takes on late payment to knock it for a loop.
