actually religion stated the world was flat.
Yo! Ive got the perfect top ten for you:
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of other gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from lower life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in three gods- the trinity.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" --including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that some spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (4.55 billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a couple of generations old.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs --though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

You obviously don't know what science is. Science is about finding the truth. In order to find the truth, there will be many theories presented, most of which will be wrong. Science narrows it down until the correct theory is found, it's called trial and error.
"science concluded that the earth was flat,"
Science proved the world was not flat.
"we are supposed to believe that we came from monkeys?"
Maybe you believe that but, that's not what evolution says, get your facts straight.
People also used to believe that god was responsible for thunder and lighting, science proved that theory wrong. People used to thing god was responsible for rain, science proved that wrong. Now people think god created everything, one day science may prove that wrong as well.
God is simply to the answer to the unknown, it's ignorant and dangerous to believe that way.
If it wasn't for science, we wouldn't have any of the modern technology that we have today. Without science, you wouldn't even know what a computer is. If science can't be trusted, don't use your computer. If science can't be trusted, don't live in a house or apartment. If science can't be trusted, don't use a washing machine. If science can't be trusted, don't go to the doctor, ever. You should be thanking science instead of an imaginary being.

earth being flat wasn't science, that was an assumption. and it was maggots that come from meat. not flies, genius. the flies land on the meat, lay eggs, and maggots show up. yes science figured that one out 'ages ago'. yeah this guy put some meat in one jar that was sealed, and the other unsealed, after a few days the unsealed one had maggots cause the flies could land on it.
and we didn't come from monkeys we came from apes, big differences. also, some where in the bible is says to the amount of , may a day be a thousand years and a thousand years be a day for god, or something to that extent. so being that man was created in a "day" doesn't that possibly mean that we could have been made throughout that "day", which could have been crafted over millions of years out of carbon and water starting from the basic single cell to more complex organisms, working up to what we are now. that's like, i bet jesus as a carpenter never built a table or a chair in only a day, as in 24 hours.
i think the creation of adam was interesting, God breathed life into the dust. I like the way the Qur'an describes the creation of adam, that Allah took the water and poured it into the clay and kneaded it together and shaped adam from it. it's funny cause it seems like Islam, Christianity, and Judaism and like 3 sides to the same coin, and if you want to get technical a coin sort of does have three sides, theres heads, then tails, then theres the circular band around the edge. anyway it's all the same God(god, Allah, jahovah, iehovah - in hebrew)ha ha my genius prevails again.

You are confusing science with religion.
It is only religion that says "I have the one final correct answer that will be correct for all of time." Oh sure, the parts of the Bible that Christians choose to teach changes over the years, but you use the same Bible. Its text doesn't change, its basic tenets don't change (if someone chooses to 'reinterpret' the Bible).
Science is not concerned with being 'right,' merely with examining the world and attempting to discover the rules that govern it. We frequently get those rules wrong. Science starts with an observation, makes a hypothesis, attempts to prove it, and accepts the result - right or wrong.
Science, then, will say 'I was wrong' when it is wrong. This is the sign of a mature, intelligent approach to understanding the world. And you fault it for this level of intellectual honesty?
The word of God is direct and authoritative only if you refuse to question its premises. That is not the sign of a mature, intelligent approach to understanding the world. That is something else: Dogma.

The Original Poster made the mistake of attacking science, the religion of the new age, lol
Science acolytes and true believers in the cult of scientific method straight up leaped on his *** with quotes and references from their beloved apostles, Einstein, Hawking, and Newton, lol.
Fact: Science is wrong about a great many things, currently.
Dark matter is made up. Universe expansion is an illusion. Dark energy, exotic matter, and even the big bang... are all just guesses based on misunderstood observations. They seem to work, so scientists ran with it... but now, there are holes in the theories, so they have to make up MORE and MORE made up magic matter to explain these observational data errors.
Fact: Religion is non-sense, and people of all sorts... atheists, Christians, scientists, and every other type of person on Earth, are all equally capable of becoming a cognitive dissonant, bigoted, mindless ignorant fanatic.
All people are capable of that. Don't be like them. Think for yourself. Don't believe everything you read in a book.
...whether that book is The Bible, or Steven Hawking's space-time. Learn to think for yourself.
Because the sad truth is...
and you aren't going to like this...
YOU... know... NOTHING for certain.
If you were a character in a book...
that some GOD in a higher dimension wrote... or a scribble on a child's wall. YOU would have no idea. You would have no way of knowing... no matter what the other made up scribbles said... oh, expansion, big bang, string theory, waves, gravity, gods, monsters, angels... nothing the other made up beings said, could or would convince you, of the ACTUAL truth... that you are nothing more than a figment of some kids imagination.
:-)
Now...
Tell me.
Are you real?
Yes?
No?
Prove it to me.

It's sad that back in the day Scopes got a lot of hostility for trying to teach evolution but now it's the other way around and people are being hostile over creationism. I don't believe evolution, either. There are just too many holes! I think Darwin was a man with a looooot of time on his hands lol
Ok now I'm done ranting lolol :) sorry!

I in no way stand up for evolution. It is wrong. However, Science is good. Science has made life what it is today. You condemn the very process that allows you every modern convenience. would you rather be living as they did in Columbus' day? Science is made up of theories or possible truths. They have no choice but to stand beside these theories until such time that they are proved right or proved wrong. Almost nothing in science is firmly seated. They are constantly learning new things about old things as well as new things. This is progression. Someday they will prove the theory of evolution wrong. Until then thank them for everything in your life. Don't put them down just because their theory does not agree with our beliefs. It's the atheist politicians who are to blame for spreading these unfounded theories by teaching them in our schools.

Some where in the Bible it said the world was flat. Also scientist don't believe we evolved from monkeys but that we share a common ancestor. Evolution is a fact I dunno about evolution where animals change in to something else but I think it could be true. Micro evolution exists. The bird flu virus couldn't be caught from human to human but then it evolved and now it can that is evolution. Things mutate adapt there defiantly some proof there.

You've got things backwards. It was CHRISTIANITY that persecuted anyone who said the world wasn't flat or that everything revolved around the sun. If you believe that way fine, go live in a cave and never see a doctor. That is science. If it can't be trusted don't ever go to one.

The fact that science admits it's wrong and changes (often drastically) should show just how much it wants to unveil truths. When religion finds something that contradicts them, they shun the evidence. When science finds something that contradicts them, they change. And just because it's complicated to you doesn't mean other people don't understand it. Maybe you should actually listen to what you're hearing and it wouldn't be that complicated.
