Please read the following scriptures and explain them to me if god isn't against these things...

I see...
So even though it clearly states these things should not be done... in the NEW TESTAMENT, all of that is just hog-wash?
Perhaps somebody can explain how a person is supposed to know which parts are true/holy and which parts are not...

Me lol: I'm gay... the purpose of this little quiz is to prove that few christians know what is in the bible and that when confronted with things in there that they don't like or agree with even they dismiss it as stupid just like they say gay people do to justify our own dismissal of scripture against homosexuality... they all fell for it. gotta love it!

2006-06-17 15:39:20 · update #3

LOL
So few are even bothering to read the scriptures.... just giving their opinions.
Nobody has yet to explain to me how the Bible is wrong about these things.

2006-06-17 15:46:33 · update #4

Nobody bothered to address the question directly or bothered to explain why the bible says those things if they are not true...
the dispensation of grace explanation couldn't be right... those scriptures were written during this dispensation, not the old testament... How on earth can a best answer be chosen when nobody really answered the question. Fun opinions, though.

Couldnt tell you if he approves of a lot of this stuff or not.

Braided hair dont see a problem with it, jewelry dont see a problem with it, expensive clothing dont see a problem with it, short hair on women no clue, long hair on men no problem with it.

Jesus being from Nazareth and common belief is that men of that area wore their hair long so cant say that there would be a problem with it.

The rest of the things like the braided hair, jewlery, and expensive clothing

Peter says for it not to be the outward adourning of braided hair and jewlery and expensive clothes but let it be the heart. I would conclude that he is saying your beauty should be from the inside and not the outside, not to become vain as some are want to do but to let your inner beauty show through more than that which you wear on the outside and how you look. It all boils down to interpetation and what version your reading it out of KJV, NIV, NKJV, NLV so many of them. I interpert to mean that women dont need those things at all, and they shoudlnt get caught up in it. Guess its all about how your going to read into it, you can go literal as you did and say god is against it, i choose not to.

No one knows the mind of God, but the Holy Bible can give you some guidelines. Braided hair? I think He cares more about what you think, how you feel. Jewelry? The pagans of the Bible (Romans, Greeks etc) wore jewelry, but so did the Kings of Israel and Jacob. Women were not so adorned. I think God cares more the smile you wear. Expensive clothing? Children of God are the children of a King/Royalty, represent, but not if it means denying help to someone in need. Short hair on women? long hair on men? Be thankful for all God has given you. I noticed you didn't ask about tattoo's or body piercings. These, I believe, the Lord does not approve of beacuse they're identified with demonic influences. The Bible alludes to women being feminine and humble and men being masculine, responsible, but more compelling is that we are made in God's image. I'd hate to think of Jesus having tat's or earrings in his ears and nose. What do you think? e-mail me if you like with the answer.

Sin is primarily that which diminishes the person and plan for God has for you. The rest is just cultural norms being paraded around as "God will." Speaking for God is risky business. If braided hair is all you think about, that is a sin in as much as it has become obsessive and compulsive... separating you from a relationship with God. The same goes for anything placed before seeking out God's will for you. But none of the things mentioned could possibly be bad in and of themselves. Again it is the degree to which is matters in your life. God first... all else is inconsequential and a waste of time.

We have liberty in the age of grace. 1 Timothy 2: 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 1 Corinthians 11: 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. 1 Corinthians 11: 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? There is another sin against nature. Romans 1: 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

I believe that God approves of all of those things. I consider myself a good Christian (I am a Catholic...), and I am currently wearing my long hair in a braid, and earings. My mom has had short hair for years, and half the boys at my Catholic High school wear their hair long. Why should God care about people's appearances. Isn't whats in their heart more important?

Yes.. God judges by the inside, not the looks.

oh, and god doesn't hate homosexuals.. i want to lecture on this quickly, because i kno that most ppl who answer this are right wing christians.

being gay or bi is something you can not really choose. i am bi, and for the past 4 weeks, i have tried so hard to not be. i have done everything i possibly could. i was considering suicide once, that's how dissapointed i was.i was called a bisexual who is homopphobic lol.

if you think that gays and bis are freaks, then you obviously don't have a life. if you think it's something you can change, then i am going to put you to this challenge.. try being gay, and only liking your gender for a day. see if it seriously works. try it, for real. then talk.

people always call bi's and gays freaks, and it hurts me so much, because do you think im proud to be bi? do you think i am proud to be a minority that is hated so much, you have hate crimes? do you think i accept the fact that i won't be able to run for office in the future simply because i am bi, and know i won't be elected because of that? yeah, try living in my pants for a day, and see how it feels. ******* bitches.

god doesn't hate anything. he is a god of love.
in the bible it says, hate the sin-love the sinner.
all of the above questions being asked, it doesn't even matter to god. god says in the bible to come just as you are.
unless the above areas are the person's god, meaning if they would cherish & put them above & or before god, then there will be a problem but he won't or doesn't hate.
1 of the 10 commandments says: thou shalt have no other god/s b/4 me. god's a jealous god. no other god's b/4 him meaning idols too. anything you worship or idol other then god, he doesn't approve of, but he doesn't hate.

the religion you're probably speaking of & or referring to may be the " apostolic religion."
we're born again christians & all of the above people that i know that serve god, go to church have.
no so much of the long hair, but hey: to each is own. right?

God loves us unconditionally. That includes our braids, long hair, short hair, expensive clothing and jewelry. God in the Old Testament designed the tabernacle with lots of gold and jewels. He created us all to look different and he accepts us the way we are.....)(

Don't confuse religion with God. I would think the main thing God would hate is killing in his/her name. All the questions you raise above I don't believe God really cares about, so long as we are happy and treat each other with respect. Rather it is what religion hates, and uses to try control the population.
