You can't really be "disowned" by your parents when you are under 18...they can say that when they are angry, but basically they are responsible for your care until you are 18.
They can call the Department of Children & Family Services and say that they simply can't deal with you anymore and ask that you be placed in foster care, but that is pretty extreme.
Many parents will threaten to disown their children because they are frustrated...they are trying to teach you how to behave and you simply aren't listening to them, so they don't want to be responsible for your bad choices.
After you are 18, they can certainly "disown" you, which means that they will leave their money and worldly possessions to someone else - another family member, a friend, or a charity; or they can simply spend their savings down so there isn't anything left for you to inherit.
However, it is never a good idea to live as though you are going to inherit a lot of money anyway...you need to take responsibility for your own life and your own choices.

This usually happens in families that have money. If you get disowned that means you're out of the will when your parents die and you don't get any more money while they're alive. It doesn't matter how old you are. You can be 18 or 108.

you become an orphan like little annie and you sing songs with dogs...no just kidding. I think you do become an orphan and sent to an orphanage untill you are 18 or are chosen by another family. Once you are 18 you are free to go!

Well, until you are 18, they have the legal responsibility to take care of you. But that doesn't mean they will.
I suppose you get tough and move on.
