Taking the people out of it (as you said, people of any faith can be hypocrites), I would have to say that the JW's are the most hypocritical cult that I know of. That being said, I know some very good JW's.

Here is a good one. Why don't you state why they are hypocrites and actually be logical about it. Unfortunately the majority of America doesn't function on logic anymore. Nowadays its what feels right, peer pressure, and mainstream media that form peoples thoughts rather than just thinking it through. Religion isn't hypocritical, people are. None of you are any more or less hypocritical then anyone else in this world. I don't really care if you are a Christian or a Muslim, you're just as corruptible as they are because you're just as human. No better; no less; no acceptions. A better question is what one religion is true? Logicaly there is only one true religion because none agree with eachother. Today the definition of "truth" is whatever you feel like it is. Now that is hypocritical.

A religion/cult is only as insane and hypocritical as the most insane or hypocritical member of the religion/cult if there are followers who can be manipulated in the religion.
Any one of these that declare that the only way to heaven is to believe the way any individual man has decided is the "only" way is off-kilter and that just about includes all of them. There are way too many humans who have proclaimed themselves the only true path to heaven in order to have power over masses and to hold governments at bay for centuries. Murder, torture, hiding of intellectual truth has all happened for centuries because of such men and their followers.
This is why it is important that religion and government be separated and not rule over people's lives by dictating what the Belief of the Day (or month or year) is. Freedom of religion is my most prized freedom and I take pride and understand the responsibility in my ability to choose and grow with my beliefs on a daily basis.

My rule of thumb is they are probably pretty good as long as they aren't taking/asking for money or property from people.

Scientology is the most humorous. Aliens came on 747's.. gotta love that.

Mormon is just too easy to poke fun at. The prophet Jim Smith (John Doe wasn't available that day) couldn't tell the same made-up story twice... but they make a religion out of it anyway. sheesh..

Most hypocritical: Thats easy. Christianity. Jesus should be offended that these people use his name to push their agenda of hatred in the name of brotherly love. He's probaly rolling in his grave every time Pat Robertson gets on TV.

Insea: Islam only promises 72 virgins... quit upping the deal. Do you know how hard it is to find a virgin these days?

I know it's cliched, but I'd say RADICAL Islam. The non-radical Islam isn't nearly as bad, it actually reads the parts in the Qu'ran that preach peace (there are much more verses preaching peace than war contrary to popular belief) Some people may say satanists, but actually that's a pretty logical cult/religion to me (not that I am one of course, atheist and as happy as can be) Most people think they worship the devil, but not really, and much of the mainstream satanists don't even believe in the devil. It's a philosophy, a fairly new idea of being your own god, rather than having to believe in some higher power to solve everything for you.

The girl above who said the following has totally never read the Qur'an:

"Islam...they say their religion is all about peace? Have ya looked at the Koran...it consistently talks about the justified killing of those who do not agree with the Islamic religion....yeah...sure sounds tolerant to me...."

I'm a Muslim and can tell you she is nothing more than somewhat with the goal of malice and incting hate. The Qur'an says nothing of the sort, but rather says the opposite of what she stated.

Jehovah's and Mormons are kind of a trip. I wouldn't call them cults. Yes I would. The whole thing about the Jehovah's is the fact they believe that only about 144,000 people ( I think that's right) are going to heaven. Now, how they can still convince others to join is what gets me. What makes these people think that they are one of the 144,000? It's the Kool-Aid. Don't drink the Kool-Aid......lol

well I Would have to say the most hypocritical would be the religion of atheism. feeding on anger and resentments that they fail to let go they attack others and accuse them of the very thing they are doing when they attack another persons belief system.
I'm just referring to the religious atheist who have made converting Christians into non believers. Just as nutty as your common everyday door knocking poison punch drinking christian.

I read a book once about a boy whose mother had been in some crazy Satanic cult...he ended up with twelve different personalities. Mind you most of Satanism is not like that.
