Our first objective was to tighten our borders. In the wake of doing that it was discovered that there were 11 Million immigrants living here illegally. The vast majority came here over a vulnerable Mexican border. The discovery led to severe critisism of the illegal Mexican population in the U.S.. All of the things you have mentioned place valid blame on illegal immigrants, not necessarily Mexicans alone. The attacks of Sept. 11 were committed by a group of middle eastern men who, by the very nature of their business, were here illegally. The American economy has suffered through loss of jobs, many of which are not in the fields as first thought, but in the construction trades. There, illegal Mexican migrant workers are willing to do jobs for half the normal wages paid to a legal citizen & their wages are usually sent back to Mexico. Crime & drugs are the same thing here in the U.S. & most of it comes over the same southern border.
I had to rush my wife to the hospital emergency room last week. It was over-crowded, mostly with illegal immigrants (verified through hospital staff). They were there because of no insurance & no family doctor. They were using the E.R. as a "clinic" for the sniffles & minor illnesses. We were there for 6 hours & finally left without any treatment.
Americans of all nationalities including Mexican-Americans have had enough. The UK would not do it any differently nor any better.
Since you added "missing the point", I have to add that we are not missing the point. We (Americans) have no argument with immigrants who come here to become ONLY Americans. It is our Country & we don't mind letting others join, as long as they obey our laws, learn our language & accept our culture as their own. We have room for many, but room for only one flag: the American flag.

If you think that hatred is rampant now, before amnesty; wait and see what happens if amnesty is granted yet again. This is one of many reasons amnesty can't be given at this point. Face it, people all over the world, are quite frequently bigots and racists; even without good reasons for them to be that way. Allow a fundamentally different race or group to come into an elitist culture like USA, and if that causes degradation, unfair competition and ruination to that culture and that weatlh and success; you had better believe there will be Hell to pay for it on the streets. I think many people will die in a long term blood bath if this situation is not handled properly by our government. It is a war now and it will turn into A WAR big time if these folks that are not here legally, are not removed by our Federal government. I am not a hateful person for the most part. Live and let live. I am very much working overtime to not blame the illegals, who are the ones I compete with for services, products and general life style quality and see every day. It is our governments failure to follow our votes and laws that has caused this problem. It needs to be reversed, unfortunately at the expense of good, hardworking people - illegal immigrants. They must go home and start the process anew. Do the process legally.
We relay on immigration legally for new blood and influx into our culture. This should continue as it has before and has many decades in the past. It doesn't need to be any easier or harder. It simply needs to be enforced. Enforce the law in effect and remove the illegals from this country. Come here legally. We are nothing if we are not a nation of laws.

Peronsally I think it's just Bush's way of taking our minds off the War of Iraq. He did the same thing with Gay Marriage and all of a sudden it went away after a month or so then came back two years later when he had nothing else to use. But I personally have no problem with them being here I would just like them to be legal. They get free health care on our dime and dont have to pay income taxes on the job. They're called ILLEGAL because they are here ILLEGALLY. If someone stole some bread there would be no arguement here at all on what the next step should be. Illegal is Illegal no matter what. If its that big of a deal which it really isn't or something would have happened already, the law would have been changed to accomodate "illegals".

Many americans tend to willfully fear the immigrants out of paranoia that comes from propaganda.
It's a horrible state of existence.
But I do think something must be done about the immigrant issue. Particularly at Mexico's expense. They need to find ways to advance and adopt technology and industry in their own nation. It's not that they are lazy. If they were lazy, they wouldn't bother seeking a better life in the States.
I've said it before, eslewhere, that many immgrants, wherever they are from, have done more to live in the States of America, than most caucasian natives. Just because you put on a suit and drive through McDonald's on your way in to work, to your overly demanding corporate slave post in which you seldom are able to spend quality time tecahing your children the practical things, doesn't mean you work more than Mexicans do. It especially doesn't mean that you've taught the next generation anything useful outside of which ties goes best with the current day's cubicle.
And it has nothing to do with the type of work, either. You are not your bank account. You are not your car, your house, your spouse, nor your favorite CD. And when people finally learn to get around the meaningless and overly bloated fashion statements of the material world and start learning some real skills for when the times come, then maybe we can start pointing fingers.
Until then, american education (or lack thereof) and yearly salary and the means of those accomplishments pales in contrast to the misgivings of another society, its government and what international and domestic industrialization have done out of irresponsibility for environmental and social atrocities.

There is an immigration law going thru the House of Representatives and Senate that will either allow the illegal immigrants to stay and have a chance at citizenship, or deport them all. Many Mexicans (and other people) marched through the streets protesting the bill that would deport them. This angered alot of Americans. They mistook it for illegal Mexican immigrants trying to take over the country, or demand rights. You are correct when you state that people are suggesting that they be shot, it is horrible how racist and evil some people can be. I hope that this dies down soon.

Most likely is because it is an election year and politicians thin think they still have the ability to capitalize on racism. Which here in the USA everyone Hates someone and since the Illegal Immigrant card has been floating out there for at least 15 years and no one has used it. Because of this Bush was caught with his Pants down Because the Religious right is not supposed to attack things of that nature But the Democrats seem th have no problem with it.

I believe since many say No-you can not come in because we are hurting. Some will not take that answer.
It is not most dislike the people we can not take the strain.
And since the word is No-some don't like it
And it is the disrespect of laws and our flag and demands that shouldn't be made-many are angry.
Some feel we have no right to protect our borders from-unlawful entry-drugs-weapons coming in--it is happening. Fact
Some feel we should not care for are own people over them.
Some feel others need to take care of themselves and quit putting the burden on us
Some feel others are bitting the hand that fed them
Crime as risen
The list goes on and on
There are problems and many would rather deny than work on solutions-that they might not
like
Sometimes shouting is a way to say I mean business-ever shout at your kids?

Remember - it is not that long ago that the ancestors of the very people complaining now were immigrants themselves. All Americans except Native americans are descended from immigrants. How swiftly they forget.
Americans on the whole are scared of their own shadows (thanks to George Bush. That is how the Government want it to be). Anything or anybody slightly different is to be feared & most Americans nowadays (since every home has at least one gun) almost always turn to violence to solve their problems.
The point they are missing is that Mexicans are the ones who keep their country jogging smoothly because, unlike most Americans, they are not afraid to get their hands dirty & will take the jobs many people think are beneath them.
They are manual workers/waiters/cleaners/labourers etc.
America would grind to a halt without its immigrant workers. They should be treated with respect not abused.

9/11 was somewhat of a coincidence that caused the stock market to go topsy turvy. Then inflation became a problem again. Layoffs and outsourcing hit an all time high which meant that unemployment is high, too. So when people are feeling threatened about their job and their stability at work, they lash out at the next in line to take away thier income: illegal aliens. It's actually already happened at Walmart and in New Orleans---documented workers were dismissed to permit illegal aliens who would work for lower wages do the work instead.

perhaps we have forgotten the history that has occurred for the past 200 yrs. lets review
1. We occupy by force the America's... and called it DISCOVERY even though there were already people here... we then enslaved those people.
2. We discovered the American Indians, the rightful property owners, we liberated them right into starvation and death
3. We discovered the black man ... we bought him as a commodity
and liberated him right into slavery... then we formed what is known as the police to keep them in line... beat them and worked them until they dropped... and justified it because they were less than human...
4. In the north we formed Unions of workers... (all immigrants) and there the police beat them and kept them working...
5. Did i mention that most of the land off-limits to Mexicans ... was stolen Mexican land?
quite an interesting little history, why should Iraq surprise you?
why should the Mexican hatred surprise you? Any employer will tell you the Mexicans work there butts off. Good workers.
America has been plagued with injustice, hatred, racism ...
hell... it was built on it!\
As the Mexicans go , its all POLITICAL , You see the Republicans have been in power for 15 years . 12 Million new DEMOCRATS would drive them out of office and give the DEMOCRATS the power to INDITE and they would be off to JAIL for there crimes against AMERICA.
Let me guess Mexicans can die in all our WARS and serve our country but they cant be Americans. Hateful and disrespectful to all who serve America, It shames me to be American.
