Shingles is a form of the herpes virus, so yes, it is contagious. However it is easy to take precautions. As long as she doesn't come in contact with his weeping wounds, she should be safe. That is, have her avoid doing his wash or his linens, and avoid physical contact unless she is wearing gloves. If she must handle him, have her wash her hands afterwards.

Shingles is a latent infection of chicken pox, (all part of the herpesviruses family). You can catch chicken pox from shingles, although not likely if your daughter has had chicken pox or a vaccine. However, many vaccines that were thought to be good for longer periods of time are now found to be not so long-lasting. To be on the safe side, I would stear clear until the shingles has cleared up.

"Shingles" is a virus related to chicken pox. If your daughter has been immunized, she should be safe, but the best idea is for her not to have direct physical contact with her brother during any outbreak.
