I'm a Christian and last Tuesday I was hanging out with these people, I was friends with some of them but not all of them. Somehow we started talking about Slavery in Egypt (which did not happen until the Greeks, I'm studying to become an Egyptologist, I have a minimum of knowledge on this) . This one guy said "what about exodus?". He's into science, you know the stereotype, 'not religious' I thought.
In response to his very just comment, i said " well, the Bible was first oral tradition, their were at least 2 centuries in btw the fact and the written words"
Suddently he explosed and yells "Do not question the holy word of God, you Atheist...." Me : I'm not an Atheist!!!
Someone went up and told him that just because somebody does not believe in what you beilieve does not make this person an atheist.
If I had known, I would not have started that conversation. I preffer to avoid religious confrontations.
So, I respect what you believe, but just remember to respect others. I don't think you have a problem, but he definitely does, I mean, he could have just told me "listen, i believe the Bible is written by God" and I would have been cool.
Sorry, not exactly the answer you were waiting for.

You are correct! The Bible says that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. The Bible had about 40 writers but only one author, the Lord himself! Consider that the first 5 books were writ en my Moses who, like all the other writers, were inspired by the Holy Ghost as to what to write. Moses wrote about creation, the flood and much more even though he wasn't there to see it. Consider the book of Revelations as written by John, John wrote about the tribulation and that how the whole world would see the dead bodies of the 2 witnesses laying in the streets of Jerusalem. John could not have known that the only way this will happen is by television so he wrote as inspired by the Lord! More evidence that the Bible is the inspired word of God. Hope this helps!

i have thought very much about this. what IS religion? specifically what IS christianity? from my world history class, it seems that the christian peoples were persecuted from their beginnings by the romans until it was finally accepted by constantine. putting this into consideration, (i may be wrong) but it seems that the christian peoples began these ideas about the coming of jesus in order to inspire hope. while this may seem farfetched to you religious people (no offense) but think. if the christian people were rich, prosperous, and not oppressed, would Jesus still be coming? in conclusion, i think it was the people who inspired the bible to be written.
AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i may be wrong with my very basic and limited knowledge of the Bible. Science is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People.... Religion was invented in the Middle ages as a form of control over the population(to instill fear to be good)

Scriptures are given by God and are True from the Beginning -
The Holy Scriptures are not the private interpretation of men (2 Pe.1:20 below), but they are given by God through the Holy Spirit.
ALL Scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Pe.1:21, 2 Tim.3:16, 2 Samuel 23:2, Eph.3:5 below).
God’s word is true from the beginning (Ps.119:160 below).
God is the God of truth (Ps.31:5, Deut.32:4, Ps.25:5, Jn.17:17 below).
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim.3:16 below).
The spirit of Truth will guide you into all truth (Jn.16:13 below)
If a religious author’s writings do not speak according to the Holy Bible, there is no light in them (Isa.8:20 below).
2 Pe.1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2 Pe.1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Tim.3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me (David), and his word [was] in my tongue.
Eph.3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Ps.119.160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Ps.31:5 Into Thine hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
Deut. 32:4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are judgment, a God of truth and without iniquity; just and right is He.
Ps.25:5Lead me in Thy truth and teach me, for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.
Jn.17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
2 Tim.3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Jn.16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Isa.8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.
