Depends on your city, but normally the police department has just a regular listed number you call for non emergencies. Some cities also have special non emergancy numbers.

You can still of course merley call 911and report any need for a police officer.

Now will they come, that again is what city you live in, I live now in a little town called Sparta TN, I saw two men in a lot beside my house very early one morning, I called the police since they seemed odd looking around on the ground.
In three minutes I had two police cars and another car showed up in a few more mintues ( slow day I guess)

In Atlanta GA, they won't come if you car has been broken into, they merely give you another number to call and just do a police report over the phone. I even actually caught someone who broke into a car in front of my house, my wife called 911 three or four times but they were so busy with more serious police calls, it took over an hour to get a police officer to show up. ( by that time, I had to release this person after discussing the error of his way with him)

There should be a non-emergency number listing in your local phone book for the police station. This would be the number to call!

Call information and ask for your local police department's "non-emergency number." Next time it happens, give them a buzz. Should go straight to the dispatcher no matter what time it is.

check with your local police station for a non emergency number, 311 only works if your area has it set up.

311 (and I don't mean the band, even though that band truly rocks.) ;)

311 has become the designated phone # for non-emergency government services & 311 service has been put in place in many cities around the U.S.
