YES! I agree. I couldnt believe it last month when I went shopping and found PADDED bras for children in sizes 8! I think a lot of the celebrities such as the Olson twins and Paris Hilton have a lot to answer for when our little girls see them and want to dress the same.
Its kind of frightening that it is acceptable these days for a young child to be labelled as 'sexy'. I know I took my five year old daughter out of her dancing class - as did a few other mums - because of the short, tight and provocative costumes they were to wear and the dance moves and NOT what little girls need to be doing. How sad the world has come to this, no wonder little children end up with problems such as eating disorders and self harm by the time they are teenagers. Children need to be children, childhood is not long enough, plenty of time to grow up later. I guess its up to us mothers to encourage this.
I agree with one of your answers above - contact the store and let them know how inappropriate this is - if they dont do anything about it try the media - even local paper? Then all else fails industrial relations may look into it. It is not acceptable - it may encourage perverts do you think?

I think short skirts are OK, but not on overweight little girls, I guess that applies to women too. i don't think it's right to be matched up with a belly shirt or anything. I think most moms know where to draw the line and often do.
I wish we could go back to the good ol' days where children dressed like children.
Everyone is so grown up now.
Really it is ironic that for such a sexually repressed society America is, our clothing has become so provocative. Not that I am against sexy clothing. But there is a time and place for everything. I don't think there is an appropriate time or place for a little girl to dress obscenely sexy.
I can just imagine these little girls in a sweatshop somewhere in China making sexy cloths for little girls in America and stitching the word 'sexy' on it not knowing what it means. LOL

I do not have a daughter but a step son. I am disgusted when I go into his school, seeing the little helpless girls dressed like they came out of a snoop dog video. My goodness, why do these parent's wonder why their kid's are raped or kidnapped? Maybe they should look at the way the represent their daughters. You have to remember they are helpless, they have NO control on their clothing. We as the adults are the reason the children grow up the way they do. It's called MORAL'S. Something parents have tended to stray from. Children are NOT property, nor a trophy. They are helpless little people that look up to us as a role model. So when I see a little girl dressed like a sleeze, all I think of is, I hope their isn't a predator lerking in the back ground.

Absolutely! It is almost impossible to buy anything for a little girl unless you want her to look like Jessica, Paris or Brittany ugh. I have almost given up on buying clothing for my 10 year old daughter new. We do a lot of thrift shopping or buy long tank tops and stretch pants to wear under the short tops and shorter skirts.
It is absolutely disgusting to add inappropriate/seductive language to the clothes, ugh.
The retailers only care about the bottom line, money. They will sell what people will buy.
We draw the line by voting with our money, writing letters and enforcing dress codes in schools, daycares and youth groups.

Most definitely.
Lot of the fashions for the younger girl age group are just trying to copy stuff in juniors, teens clothing. Girls aged about 3-10 or so try to dress like high schoolers.
It is inappropriate and retailers should not encourage such types of clothing. Best is to teach your child not to get drawn to these kinds of things. Draw the line there because retailers aren't going to stop.
I'm pretty surprised that you found that stuff.

So much of it truly is inappropriate. It is just showing how society is sexualizing children more and more. Retailers allow it because they hope we will succumb to peer pressure, or our kids whining. Just refuse to buy the stuff. Supply and demand will eventually even it out, IF the majority of folks think the lewd clothes are unacceptable. I have even seen padded bras in the kids section. There is nothing wrong with contacting the retailer and politely expressing your disgust.

That is extremely inappropriate! Its things like that, that brainwash little girls into thinking they have to be sluts in order to be accepted in today's society. It can make them look like a rape target also. I think the line should be drawn where little girls are not wearing outfits that you see teenage girls wearing just to get attention. Short skirts and tight clothes on a child is just sickening to me! And ones that say things like "sexy" should be against the law!! I think parents should have their children taken away from them if they let their daughters wear that crap.

I see this all the time not just in stores but on little girls. It's awful that our children are exposed to this type of dress. Let alone being aloud to wear it.Respect seems to be out the window now a days.Respect for other people and respect for yourself has become lost.Unfortunately retailers couldn't care less. It's now all about the mighty dollar.I'm just glad to see other parents concerned about these things.

i totally agree....if i ever have a daughter i would never want her to wear that kind of clothes! children shouldn't be looked at as "sexy" & clothes like the ones you've described encourage just that....i've seen tight, low cut tanks, short shorts & mini skirts for girls under 10 & i can't believe it!
are the retailers out there trying to make little girls into sex symbols? & why are they only making these terrible clothes for the little girls & not boys.....just encourages people to look at girls & women as sex objects.....i guess retailers just continue to sell what people are buying but i don't know why anyone would buy that for their kids!!

Yes it is quite inappropriate. I have four daughters and my wife and I shop long and hard to find clothes. We've even considered just making their clothes ourselves.
Retailers do it, because there is a market for it. They don't take responsibility for prostituting the girls, and neither does the parents. THeir making profits and parents are making friends until their child is raped.
