Of course it's a good thing. Giving up is for wimps and lazy a$$es.
Even if the odds are completely overwhelming and you know you'll never succeed, keep trying.
But you might want to try learning how to spell. And don't give up on it :)

It is not OK. If you know for sure you will never attain your goal or the odds are overwhelmingly against it or the cost or risk exceeds what would be accomplished do not waste your energy even trying or starting.

As the song says, "you have to know when to hold them and when to fold them..." or something like that. Make sure you choose your battles as some are not worth the fight. Develop the wisdom to know what is worth not giving up and what is not worth hanging on to.

Depends. Now never give up schooling, your values, etc. Now if you do bad things It's okay to give those up. :)
