Before ANYONE mentions the Mormon Church(LDS Faith)..PLEASE PLEASE educate yourselves on the Mormon Church before you say something you DON'T know...

Myth:
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are polygamists.

Some early leaders and members of the Church entered into plural marriages during the latter half of the nineteenth century. After receiving a revelation, Church President Wilford Woodruff declared the practice should be discontinued in 1890. That position has been reaffirmed by every president of the Church since. Members of the Church who enter into plural marriage today face Church disciplinary action, including excommunication.

Myth:
"Mormon fundamentalists" are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who still practice polygamy.

The term "Mormon" -- although it has no official standing -- is widely used in the media to refer to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Use of the term "Mormon fundamentalists" to refer to polygamists is therefore misleading and invites misunderstanding and misinterpretation. No members of the Church today can enter into polygamy without being excommunicated. Since those who practice polygamy cannot be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is incorrect to refer to them as "Mormon fundamentalists."

All this said, there are polygamists in Colorado City, AZ as well as in several small Utah cities in the southwest section of Utah...east of St. George and west of Lake Powell.

Okay people, we Mormons DO NOT continue to practice polygyny (where men have more than one female mate at a time)! We never practed polygamy (where both spouses can have more than one mate at a time). Our practice of polygyny ended in 1890, and ANYONE who still practices it IS NOT a member of the Church. They are a totally separate church. So for all of you who think you know what you're talking about, i would recommend actually knowing before opening your mouths with answers!

There are Mormons that still practice polygamy, but not very many. In many places in the world, there is still an option of having polygamous marriages (I know people from Africa where this is common). Then there are those who are polyamorous, who don't believe in the monogamy of tradiational relationships, but tend to be less male-centered in their practices than the Mormons.

Lots of hidden Mormons in UT. Many Middle Easterners. Some modern freethinkers in the US. One man, one woman is actually the freaky thing if you take in the context of history. Now it is more the norm. Unfortunately, those with the one man, one woman agenda don't leave room for varying views from people who enter different relationships freely. Key word - Freely

Yes there have been fascinating documentaries on secluded groups of Mormons in Utah, and of course it exists legally in other countries, namely in the Middle East and certain tribes in the South American Amazon and Africa.

The way I see it, population wise, for every one man in the world there are four women, so to have only one woman per man is just bad math.
