How do you get them to hold off on sex, drug experimentation, their desire to break rules and laws?

Glad you asked, although it is probably too late to help someone if they are already a teen. SO, it is the responsibility of everyone in our society to instill values in children from birth. Monkey see, Monkey do ; parents need to be good role models, turn off the television and spend time with their families !
That is exactly how you help teen-aged boys ! ...... AND girls !

Lock them in the basement LOL! Actually there isn't much you can do once a CHILD reachs the age of reason (8yrs). All you can do after that is talk with them and hope they will listen. As parents we have to reach out to our kids at a very young age and discuss the dangers of drugs, sex, and breaking the law. Celebrities are making this job increasingly difficult, with all the smut they put on our television sets. You will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, find a role model on TV. Just talk to your kids and go through their bedrooms, computers, and other stuff to find out what your child is doing! As long as they live under YOUR roof, you have every right in the world to be nosey!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

As cheesy as this will sound....that's all on the parents! If there is just a mom or just a dad, it causes issues. Boys especially, need BOTH their parents around. How else do you shape them into respectable adults?!!!
