The best thing would be to stop drinking soda all together. Diet coke has no fat, calories or sugar, but it's still not "healthy".

The energy content of the various 'Diet Coke' varieties is listed in my reference.
In everyday language, the word 'calorie' really means kilocalorie (1 kcal = 1000 calories) so when the Coca Cola company says its drink has 0.4 kcal per 100 ml, that is just less than half a 'calorie'.
Don't forget to multiply the energy value per 100 ml by the actual amount you drink. For example, in a 250 ml slimline can of Diet Coke there are 0.4 x 2.5 kcal = 1 kcal (one 'calorie').
So in answer to your question, yes.

some research has shown that artificial sweeteners make some people hungrier than a regular sugared beverage.

isn't Diet Coke like 1 or 2 calories per serving? So you would need to drink at least 1750 servings to gain 1 pound.

Diet coke is great! Although artificial sweeteners are highly criticised (health issues and whatnot, I don't know, I'm not a doctor) sometimes water gets a bit boring, right?!

So drink both, when you fancy a cold and refreshing beverage, have your diet coke with ice, perhaps limit it to having it with your lunch and dinner and maybe the odd one in between but when you are out and about or when you're working, keep a bottle of water with you.

Good luck with the diet, I know it's hard but you can do it!

it is lower in sugar not calorie free, and if i were you i would ditch coke altogether cos it bloats out your tummy and makes it looks like you have not lost any weight even though you have. It also makes that monthly bloated feeling worse, which if you drink loads of the stuff im guessing you suffer with alot am i right? my advice would be drink water instead, it has less chemicals aswell-have you ever read the ingredfient list ona can of coke- it sounds more like the reactants for a science experiment- thats if you can pronounce any of the words like!

I would recommend that you switch to water, which is a healthy drink. Some studies have reported that the sweet taste of artificial sweeteners confuses the body, and causes a person to crave sweets even more.

I don't know the current view on this, but your body needs water, and there are many reasons to avoid cola, regardless of the calories.

One way I try to make my habits healthier is that one I crave something, I will substitute a healthier choice first, and if I still want my bad choice later, I allow myself to have it.

I find it much easier to add good things to my diet and lifestyle, than to avoid the bad things. Eventually, you wind up doing with more good things than bad things. And you are not feeling deprived of your pleasures and tempted to give in.

Good Luck. Please choose to be healthy first.

The bogus sweetener could make you consider more hungry considering the fact that your body will get the signal that it is receiving realy sugar which isn't the case. Then your blood sugar drops, and a few persons consume more seeing that of the cravings it may well motive. In the event you don't consume extra then it is not going that you'll put on weight just by means of consuming it.

Coke is bad for you, but there's a reason to drink it, i.e. you want a sugar hit in liquid form. Diet Coke is utterly pointless. If you want to quench your thirst then drink tap water. It's cheap, gives your body everything it needs from a liquid, and isn't bent on global domination.

If you are using it to down a dozen dough nuts, yes you would probably gain weight. Not from the diet coke but what you had with it.
