NO- atheist does not mean satanist (if you are equating that to evil). A belief system is sacred. I applaud anyone that takes the time to sort things out and not blindly follow the theology (or lack there of) of their parents/friends/whatever. I occasionally wonder if those that do the right thing because it is the right thing and not to attain entrance into heaven more commendable. If you are talking about someone who believes in nothing and therefore cares about nothing I'm not sure I would consider them "good"--- but who determines "evil" anyway.

Few people are truly evil. Atheists are just in a state of denial. They can't admit, that their entire opinion of the universe, is a reaction to a believers faith. Atheists wouldn't know what they thought, without believers feeding them articles of faith, to argue against. Whatever you believe, they're against it. Atheists are stuck like glue to religion.
Truly evil people, have no idea what I'm talking about. They have no concept of evil, believe it or not. These few, are also called sociopathic. They have a highly developed code of behavior, that serves them well. But they have no morality whatsoever. And they lie very well.
I call the truly evil people 'hollow'. Because they are empty.
Most self proclaimed atheists, are really agnostics. They understand that God exists, they just don't think he gives a hoot. Sort of like an absenty landlord.

What is "evil"? According to the Bible it's
the "law", "given by Moses", that is "evil":
Mt 6:13 Our Father, deliver us from "evil".
Rom 7:6 We are delivered from the "law".
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Law: is good, but it is also evil.
Grace: is good, but never evil.
Discern(avoid) both good + evil: Heb 5
As for Atheisits, I find some are more sensible than christians; calling themselves atheist to distinguish themselves from many carnal, deceived, and bewtiched christians going about law imputing sin for the hell of it, not knowing law imputed sin makes sinners all, and such law law is also a ministration of death to all.
If an athiest mentions God, then it gives place, existence, to God. And most do, so there's really no such thing as a true athiest.
But athiests are too clever to accept a divided God, or an oxymoronic God that's both wrathful and merciful. And some athiests study the Bible more than christians, just to bait and catch childish christians, make fun of their ignorance about God.
I wish christians had as much 'scrutiny' as athiests did. For the body of Christ could use more scrutiny, and less mutiny.
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Maybe. Some can be evil when others don't share their views. Some proclaim to be nice but why are they really on this R/S section? I've been called names. I know some atheist that don't parade themselves or speak loudly and aggressively on their views. I have relatives that wouldn't dare come on this site to bash or ridicule others. God bless those who are atheists. They need it.

They're not evil just because they're atheists. Like everyone else, they're capable (at least in theory) of committing evil acts, depending on what they choose to do.

No, not at all. Only those who judge everyone by their own beliefs, I would consider "evil". Say like you and half the people who have answered. Hate is a horrible thing to possess, it eats you up and leaves you an empty shell.

Atheists are thought to be "evil" because they have a realistic view on things. Who would want someone repeating their own, dreaded thoughts back at them?

It matters not what I think, I do not know the diff between good and evil. I never ate from the tree that gave me that knowledge.
Adam and Eve did and it killed them to know.
