Its actually cause your muscles get dehydrated and rip causing the body to repair the muscle rips and increase the over all surface area of your muscle or making you more "buff" that is why ; ).

You're pushing your muscles harder than they should be pushed yet. So they're exhausted.
Make sure you stretch really well before and afterward. Don't overdo your workouts, and eat bananas, because higher levels of potassium will help to prevent muscle soreness.

when muscles are used a lot, your body releases lactic acid, which facilitates muscle use, but builds up and make ya sore the next day

its a side-effect of your muscle recovering that leaves behind an acid that makes u feel sore. it just shows that u exerted yourself. in most cases, this is a good thing cuz your muscles are growing.
