I have a chihuahua mix who I got as a rescue dog. When he first came here he was terrified and nervous. Now, he's happy and self assured. To help a little dog overcome his/her natural tendency to worry about their smallness, you need to give the dog a lot of love and you need to let the dog start acting like a dog. One of the problems with people with small dogs is that they treat them like dolls. Little dogs are still dogs. They need to socialize with other dogs. They need to get out and smell the neighborhood. It's always best, if you can, to get a companion dog, because as pack animals, dogs are happiest the more people/dogs they are around. And a happy dog is NOT a nervous dog.

Because that's the way the breed IS! You should have looked into their temperament instead of getting a dog for the way it LOOKS!

You can try some training, but it won't change your dog's personality.

I'd suggest reading some really good books on training. Try not to do it randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also! These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

That is what they are like!!!! What did you expect??? People think the are just Mini-Dobermans....they are NOT!!!!
Research next time before you get a breed. I know 2 people who have been breeding and showing Min-Pins for years, and they would have told you that can be expected!!!!

It's a shame that you didn't research the breed and their characteristics before acquiring one. You should do that and then register you and the dog in some basic training.
