$101 in WA state and if you are 16 and over and a passenger the ticket goes to whom ever is not wearing the seat belt, not the driver. My dad was pulled over because I was not wearing mine (I am an overweight girl and it did not fit) My dad was wearing his and they gave me a ticket for $101. In court they lowered it to $72 because of the "special circumstance" but I did have to show proof that I had gotten an extention.

In California, it's $230 for first offense. After that, it jumps to $370 & keeps going. The person who stated $50 obviously hasn't seen the recent signs posted around major freeways. Every state is different. Best option, wear the stupid thing & don't get caught not. It's not worth your life or anyone else's on the road that you will endanger by refusing to wear one. I hate them. It alternates between choking me & squashing my breasts. But I wear it anyways.
