Better for 1 to 2 hours. More then that tends to break down the meat too much and the lime flavor will overwhelm the meat. the meat won't get tough, but it will be best if done for a shorter period.

Not only can you, but it makes for a very nice marinade. Use mexican beer, don't forget to toss in a little garlic and cilantro.. and life should be good.
Note that this might be better for a shorter time marinade, acids tend to break the meat up more, but as long as its not a lot of lime juice life is good.

marinating and sort of meat overnight makes it taste 10xs better when you have it the next day. Sometimes even marinating it for two

I do not think so as the acid in the lime juice will "cook" the meat and it would probably not be tender.most recipies for meat that use lime juice do not call for it to marinate for a long time, this is the recipies from Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice web site and they would seem to be the experts on lime juice marinades.
Honey Lime Dressing
¼ cup Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 tablespoons honey
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon paprika
Combine all ingredients and shake well to combine. Chill. Shake again before serving.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jalapeño Lime Sauce
3 cups ranch dressing
¼ cup green chilies, roasted, peeled and seeded
¼ cup pickled jalapeño peppers, sliced
1½ tablespoons Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice
3 tablespoons cilantro leaves, fresh, chopped
1 Roma tomato, diced, seeded
Pulse all ingredients in a blender, in batches, until smooth. Chill and use as needed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cilantro-Lime Marinade
4-6 tablespoons Nellie & Joe's Key West Lime Juice
1/3 cup olive or vegetable oil
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper, to taste
Toss all ingredients into a food processor and pulse until combined. Marinate meat for 1/2 hour, grill and eat.
*************************************************************
Main Dishes:
Baked Key Lime Chicken
1 cup Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice
2 teaspoons honey
2/3 cup water
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon thyme
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger
3 pounds chicken pieces
Place all ingredients, except chicken, in food processor or blender. Cover and process until ingredients are combined. Pour marinade over chicken and chill overnight. Preheat oven to 325º. Drain and reserve marinade. Bake chicken pieces for 1 hour and 25 minutes, basting with marinade every 20 minutes. Serves 4.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lime & Cilantro Grilled Steak
1¼ pound boneless chuck steak, 1 inch thick
3 tablespoons Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1 small jalapeño pepper, chopped (seeded to reduce heat)
1 garlic clove, minced
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
Combine Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice, cilantro, water, jalapeño pepper, garlic and cumin and pour into a large ziptop plastic bag. Add steaks, seal and shake bag to coat meat. Let marinate in refrigerator 1-2 hours, shaking bag every now and then. Toss marinade when ready to grill steaks. Grill steaks over medium heat (preheated) until cooked to your liking, turning once (about 15-20 minutes for rare to medium). Once cooked, season to taste with salt and pepper. Carve steaks into thick slices and serve.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BBQ Lime Pork Chops
4 boneless center cut pork chops
Marinade
1/3 cup Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice
2 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon lime zest
Salt and pepper
Lime slices
Mix the marinade in a large ziplock bag or in a shallow glass dish. Reserve ¼ cup of the marinade. Add pork chops to the marinade, coat the chops on both sides. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Heat BBQ to medium heat. Brush chops with reserved marinade and grill turning once. Cook for approximately 10 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Place on platter and garnish with lime slices.
