it's simple. they think if WE t hink it looks good, we can hypnotize our dogs into liking it. and on the off chance we think it's disgusting...our dogs can hynotize US.

People see the commercial, think it is the "best" thing for their
dog(s) and buy it. It is just like any human product. They try to make it look the best. The owner is the one with the money so psychologically it is better to appeal to the buyer of the food. In this case the human owner.

Dog food commercials are just like every other commercial out there. If there was only one dog food brand out there, then you wouldn't have to choose. But because there is so many brands out there, every dog food brand is competing against every other dog food brand out there. They are trying to appeal to you because they are trying to get your loyalty and preference. Think about what soda/pop you buy without thinking about it because you like it or you like it better than any other drink. Whether you realize it or not advertising played a role in why you perfer that drink over another drink. That soda/pop has your loyalty and preferance over most other drinks.

Even through you don't eat the dog food, like one other said, you don't want to feed your dog just any dog food. If you have the money, you want to buy your dog the best because they are part of the family and advertisers know that. They, just like soda/pop businesses, are working on building brand imagry, preferance, and loyalty just as hard. They are competeing for your loyatly to buying their type of dog food, and for your dollar.

Also, advertisers have in their plans how long a commercial will run so it doesn't run too short for someone to pick it up. But if its runs too long (months) it gets boring and even through its shown, it doesn't impact the human sensory.

Hope that helps some and makes some sense.

Well, since my dogs aren't allowed in the grocery store, and I'm the one who knows the pin on my card,...

I'm guessing it's because I'm the smart one. I have the money. I have the opposable thumb to hold the pen to sign the checks. I have the bank account. I have the job....

Besides, dogs have a hard time understanding a 2-dimensional picture (like a tv screen or a photograph, or a painting, for that matter). They just see a flat surface.

Because dogs have very little concept of money, which means we have to buy the food for them and it is easier to buy something that looks good. To test this out give your dog the food money for a week and I guarantee all they will buy is treats or try to impress the next door neighbours dog with a fancy new collar. so that's why we have to control the money

Many pet owners treat them as their own kids as I do. Advertisers try to appeal to our taste buds because we are buying the food. If we think the food is tasty and nutritious then the pets should like it too. Its all about selling!

Because humans are the ones who buy the food. How many dogs have you seen pushing a cart down the grocery aisle?

The reason dogfood commercials have to try and win us over is they know people have pets and they have to make their commercials appealing to us so we buy it for our pets.I do not buy the commercially advertised pet foods. If I wanted grain to feed my dogs i would buy them the same thing i feed my horses. Petfood commercials do not impress me at all because it is just to get people to buy and make them richer. They know sop many people are switching to the raw fresh diet and have to try to appeal to everyone.
