Because you let it. Take it as a complement. Their jealous of you. Their lives suck and want you to feel the same way they do. Think of it this way, if they didn't, your not noticed.

It's hard because everyone wants to believe that their good people and that nobody dislikes them. When you hear someone talking negatively it's like not being picked for a team you feel sort of left out. Being able to take criticism is tough. Hang in there!

because we know we've been betrayed by someone we trusted and its the betrayal that hurts more than hearing the gossip. who cares about dirty laundry...after awhile it dies. it's the lost trust for the betrayer that lingers.
