Parakeets eat what they like and many like Bananas. I had one years ago love Bacon and Eggs. He would get on your shoulder to eat. IF, you run him off, he do a Skidding Slide Dive into your plate. So, most people shared with him. ;-D

Most birds just LOVE fruits and vegetables. Some parrots won't like what other ones like. You have to try different things and see what your bird likes. Be careful of apple seeds, as they are toxic for birds to eat, and stay away from Avocado. If you don't like the mess of fresh fruits, you can offer them the dried fruit also.
Feeding your birds from your dinner table is very healthy.
Our Amazon loves chicken bones, hot dogs, pasta and veggies.
The smaller birds are somewhat pickier, but they eat a variety of people foods also.

Yes bananas are good as well as apples, pears, peaches, starwberries, grapes in small amounts. Hard boiled egg especially the yoke is excellent. We have two and they eat and live better than us...lol Keep in mind their beaks are not as strong as a parrotts so you will need to break this food up for them into eatable portions..They may not eat it at first but you simply have to keep introducing it to them...It takes time. The better you feed them the longer they will live.

DO NOT GIVE ANY BIRD IN CAPTIVITY GRAVEL TO EAT WITH THEIR FOOD. They do not need it when in captivity. Gravel can cause a pet bird to become bound and dead.

Banana is one of the fruits recommended for a parakeet. I have rosellas (who are part of the parakeet family) and they love it. My handbook actually recommends slicing the banana with the skin on so that the bird can have fun extracting the banana itself.

can eat everything but- fried foods, chocolate, ANYTHING with caffeine, alcohol or avocado's. Also you want to avoid the seeds of fruits in general to be safe. e.g.- apply seeds are poisonous they contain cyanide
