Its for all
Many here would have a hard time.

Our country in the US is somewhat reliant on others. Although I think they could do it.

Is it wrong to aim for this goal?

I feel this does pertain to the immigration issue. And I think even in Mexico they could do this if they had too.

Others do live this way (and have)--is it it impossible (not hard but impossible) now?

And who would like to see us work on it here-it would mean closing the borders and putting control on things and getting it together here first?

I could survive on my own in the wilderness. I know how to make a snare to catch rabbits. Rabbit fur makes nice linings to buckskin shirts and skirts/pants. I can shoot with a pistol (like my Glock31 , .357) or a bow and arrow. Deer is good cooked over an open fire if you know how to do it. I can shoot quail, pheasants and squirrels with a slingshot. I know which plants that are edible or not. Yes, I could be self sufficient. No doubt, it would be a hard life, but I could do it. But, would a Mexican do it? No way, Jose'!!

The United States will never again be self-reliant and for good reason. Trade fosters relationships which fosters good will which fosters allies.

To make the United States an Island would be a major blow against democracy in the world for which she is the example, the leader, and in some cases the financial source of other countries to be.

That's why we took our medicine when our jobs went overseas. We are angry but understand to an extent and still are hard working Americans.

But when our citizenship and the inalienable rights thereto are threatened by aliens, that we cannot stand for, we cannot live in a land that is divisible by fact of our Allegience to our Flag; for this we become one nation, under god and indivisible, and justice for all, and for these simple concepts we will protect and defend our country against the unwelcome colonization invasion upon our borders to be as we have always been proud and strong Americans against tyranny.

The Mexican Flag flying up and to the right of ours, in place of ours, and the will of the Mexican Government upon the people of the United States, make no mistake, is tyrannical.

Remember the Alamo
Remember Goliad
Remember the War for Indepandance

And above all remember the Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness guaranteed to American citizens in our constitution against any invading force.

They tell us to get over it and deal with it.

I believe we will deal with it. We will deal with it by leaving the Mexican Border where it is.

The United States could be VERY self reliant. And, i think we SHOULD be self-reliant!There is a factory in Hawaii, that has been operating on SUGAR,as it's source of fuel, for over a hundred years!! And sugar is cheap to grow! And,i remember several times,i heard on the news about different people inventing things to INCREASE gas mileage to about 90 miles to a gallon! But,then the GREEDY oil company comes along, and BUYS that patent from them for MILLIONS!!

Personally,i think we ought to START,by kicking the u.n. OUT of the country!!!Then,we kick out all the illegal MOOCHERS. We give those jobs,to American welfare moochers! We STOP giving away all the taxpayers money to foreign countrys that hate our guts, but are always wanting HANDOUTS!!
Then,we should ONLY help and protect countrys that are our TRUE allies!!! And,i do NOT mean countrys like France,Germany and Russia, and several OTHERS,that just want what they can get from us,then turn their backs on us at OTHER times!! We do NOT need these "fair weather"friends!!!!
We could save BILLIONS of dollars this way, that could go back into our OWN economy!!!!!!!,

Do you meant able to rely on oneself? Well, this country is in for a world of hurt if everyone is as sefl reliant as those knuckleheads in New Orleans. Everybody on the planet new a massive hurricane was headed to that area, and a lot of people were on the news, wrote in the papers that the levies could breech, and what would happen. Yet they chose to stay. If I lived there and had one good leg and one good foot, and no car, I sure as hell would have walked out of that sewer drain before the storm hit. Heck , they didn't even think about having flashlights, water, canned food or big screen T.V's on hand. They had to go out and steal all of that stuff. Geez. I only laugh because I live in Florida and have everything ready to go, just in case, except the big screen T.V. of course. But, when you have no electric, A.C., or fresh food for two weeks after the storm, a big screen would be the last thing I would need to steal. Could I survive on my own withou the modern conviences? Sure. Could I shoot a deer to have food, yes. Could I grow some sort of veggies for food, sure. Can I make fire, sure. It's sad that many, many people can't do either of those things. I fell bad for them.
Also, I think our country did just fine on its own before our government and big businesses sold out to cheap foreign labor, and cheap imported goods. I would rather take a pair of good quality shoes to a cobbler every six months, than to buy a new pair of cheap crappy illfitting shoes that fall apart after a good rain every three months. Bring back the good old days.

hadenough: I'm just taking a few minutes in here to say a great big THANK YOU to all the people like you who are on here educating all of us and spreading the truth about the devastation that illegal immigration is causing to the USA! I know you get a lot of backlash from the ignorants who support illegal immigration and even the so-called "poor" illegal immigrants (who, BTW, obviously aren't all so POOR if they are actually on the internet with a computer, in the first place) and yet you keep on here relentlessly stating the facts and telling it like it is. So, THANK YOU, and keep up the good work and don't let any of the illegals and illegal supporters cause you to back down.

Do you mean grow your own crops, generate your own electricity, etc.? I have one acre - if you subtract my house and driveway, that leaves about two thirds of an acre (guesstimation). I don't have enough acerage to build a wind farm, grow vegetables, create and grow an orchard, allow for grazing room and housing facilities for animals, let alone enough room for growing cotton to make cloth. Is that what you mean? Not very many people in the world could do that.

I think the US is very self reliant. That's the reason why we're the greatest country in the world.

Daisy said it all.
I have look up farming and other issues. We are headed for big problems if we don't stop letting others in. We need to recuperate for a bit and take care of things here.
And Thank you for your insight. You seem to know a lot about caring for our country before it becomes a waste.
And thank you Daisy you said what many of us feel.
