I'm so with you on that one!! Everything starts and ends with God. But people are people.... Sad but true. It makes me sick to hear people mock their own Creator. They're playing with fire!Literally!

The THEORY of evolution is still a theory. It's defenders base their beliefs on partial and some time fabricated facts. Scientists have to keep their jobs, and they want them to be high paying, funded by government, univerisities, and other sources that have little accountability.

Creation is a fact. The more scientists try to disprove the Bible and the origin of man, the more they prove God created everything. There are "religious" people who also decieve others for financial gain.

We must work out the truth for ourselves. This requires more than intellect, but heart-felt understanding (not emotional "feelings") of truth beyond the physical realm. Our spirits know the truth.

Evolution has become widely accepted for the same reason people believe other falsehoods, it has been repeated enough as the truth, it sounds like the truth. The Bible is viewed with hostility because God, and His followers will continually be under attack by satan and his dominions until Christ returns.

The key is to be at peace with it all, knowing all things work for the sccess of God's plan for His people.

Well almost, God did not need the big bang or evolution. I do agree He could do anything. But there is no need to try and work big bang or evolution into creation. The scientific community is split on this very issue almost 50/50. Most scientist will not jump up and say in public 'God created the earth', but they do not believe in evolution and they are searching desperately for an alternative theory to evolution.

Well, I think the bible and science are at odds. I have a lot of respect for intelligent Christians, such as yourself, who accept evidence for big bang/evolution/etc and then try to fit god into the picture, as a prime mover, or using the mechanisms of evolution to accomplish his aims.

Unfortunately, there are many Christians, on this site especially, who have no understanding of science and reason, and who insist on denying that which does not fit into their limited, literal interpretation of the bible.

I find that more than a little sad, and I feel genuine sorrow for those people.

evolution has grown in popularity because the theory has the ability to change if it needs to, and it can incorporate scientific facts to fill its holes. the bible, having been written thousands of years ago, is unchangeable. humans are by nature curious, and seek answers for things they cannot explain. while religion used to be the best way to give the populus their answers, science has now taken the lead with the advent of modern communication systems.
evolution doesn't pretend to explain everything. we don't yet know how the big bang started. but i'm not willing to attribute it to a higher being until we've exhausted all the scientific options that we can comprehend.

Evolution is widely accepted because there is physical proof (fossils, skeletons, etc) that can be dated and linked together in patterns to show a general "evolving' of various species. The Bible is often discounted by non-Christians because believing in that is based on faith alone, which is fine for many but not for others who want something more concrete than people who say "the Bible is the word of God, what more do you need?" Now I know people who can make it all fit together, saying yes God did create everything, but he created it to evolve from tiny organisms to what we are today. You're always going to have people on both sides though determined to not compromise their belief for or against evolution/the Bible, but in my mind you can definitely make it all work if you're open enough.

You can believe in both, that's fine and dandy. But why don't you explain to your contemporaries who feel that the bible is 100% true that they are wrong. Then the hostility will be gone. THEY are the ones causing the problems. And that is the truth.

Evolutionists have no problem with the bible or god. You have no problem with either as well. Fundies have a problem with evolution. That is your audience.

Because evolution is based on factual evidence, the stories that are written in the Bible aren't. I'll understand that God started the big bang as well as created humans when you show me factual scientific evidence.

The theory of evolution is a completely different thing than the big bang theory. Isn't it time you understood that not everyone has to believe the way you do to have a valid faith?

The theory of evolution has been widely accepted because it is provable. The bible is the words of philosophers and you cannot compare the two. As for the hostility bit, it is the Christian community who is hostile because they want a fascist regime where everyone believes one thing.

Because many who exclusively believe in the Bible tend to shove it down everyone else's throats.

I see no reason why God couldn't have created the Earth by using evolution. But many "Fundies" get really, really bent out of shape when someone doesn't take the bible absolutely literally.

...just my 2 cents.
