My son has left for basic training at Fort Benning and I am wondering about the graduation there. From looking on the web it looks like Family Day is Wednesday with graduation on Friday. Can anyone tell me what time family day starts and what it entails and also about graduation. And yeah, I know it'll be hot and humid and all that :) Thanks!

Yes, I know about shoes, camera, etc....my daughter graduated from basic at Lackland Airforce base three years ago. We recently welcomed her home from Iraq.

you will recieve info with all the stuff you need, but you won't get it until closer to his graduation. make sure you have all the vehicle registration info and proof of insurance handy as you will need it to get on post. And give yourself extra time to accomodate those who do not have that paperwork readily available.

You should receive a letter from the US Army giving more specifics about the day a few weeks before hand. At least that is what the Navy does. Bring your camera, bring comfortable shoes. And thank your son for us.
If he is just starting basic, don't expect to hear from him a lot. But know the Army is taking care of him. He is busy growing up and learning.

as an ex first sergeant, i recommend you call post public affairs officer or his training unit first sergeant to get this information
