I've been burying beloved pets since I was a kid. My first answer is there is no way to go too deep because you don't want the neighborhhod mutts digging them up... but as a rule of thumb, I try to put at least 3 feet of dirt on top of them and then protect the site until the grave has settled.

I'm assuming the dog is dead (if not shame on you), in which case you might consider taking it to a vet to have it disposed of. If you are trying to avoid the disposal fee, this is a good question to call and ask the vet because there are different specifications depending on where you live. You would need to look into local ordinances or call your city to find out what laws they have about it. I believe where I lived in Colorado the vet said 4 feet (it has to be deep enough that other animals aren't going to smell it and try to dig it up).

You should bury it about 10inches to 1 foot or so, but after puting the dirt back in, you should put a big box over it, so no animals will go for it.

You need to learn that yahoo answers is not for jokes (unless you put it in the joke section) and that people to not find it funny when they are looking for a rabbit toy you do not say stuff the rabbit to make it into a stuffed animal. That is cruel and not at all funny. I dont know if this question is accually serious but stop with the stupid answers

I assume you lost him to death. Most places it is illegal to bury pets in your property. If I were to have to bury a pet, I would do it quietly and go as far down as I could.

we live in the country and have a small pet gravesite, but when our great dane passed away we let the vet dispose of his body. we still marked his grave as though he was buried there. i don't know if this helped.

At least 3 foot. This prevents any other animals to pick up the scent and dig it back up.
